Controller departure
Genworth’s executive change is orderly: the controller will leave after the Q3 filing, with the CFO assuming interim accounting oversight.
Genworth is managing a two-part insurance business: Enact provides private mortgage insurance, while the Closed Block manages legacy long-term-care, life and annuity policies as CareScout builds newer aging-care and long-term-care products. The controller’s resignation is orderly, not a business disruption. Darren Woodell is leaving to pursue a new opportunity, will remain through the September 30 Form 10-Q, and explicitly reported no disagreement with the company. 〔0〕 Accounting coverage is preserved, but only temporarily. CFO Jerome Upton will assume the principal accounting officer role after Woodell departs, with no change to his compensation. 〔1〕 That limits immediate execution risk, while leaving a successor search as the only unresolved operational item. Bottom line: This is a routine leadership transition with continuity through the next quarterly filing, not a change to Genworth’s insurance or CareScout strategy.
