In line — Revenue $426.8M vs ~$421.8M consensus; adjusted EPS $0.54 vs ~$0.58 consensus
ACI Worldwide earnings beat revenue expectations and raised full-year EBITDA guidance, but weaker Payment Software margins and EPS temper the upside.
ACI is in the middle of shifting its payments business toward cloud-native products such as ACI Connetic and Speedpay ONE, while relying on a renewal-heavy second half to deliver 2026 growth. That setup was already known before this release: management had previously flagged an unusually back-loaded Q4 driven by high-margin Payment Software renewals.
The quarter was operationally mixed, not a clean beat. Revenue of $426.8 million exceeded the published consensus of roughly $421.8 million, and adjusted EBITDA of $97.5 million came above the prior company target of $90 million-$95 million. But adjusted diluted EPS of $0.54 was below a published consensus near $0.58, so the earnings verdict is best described as in line overall rather than a broad beat. The filing says, “Q3 2026 total revenue was $427million, down 12% from Q3 2025.”
| Metric | Q3 2026 | Q3 2025 | Consensus / prior guide |
|---|---|---|---|
| Revenue (Income Statement) | $426.8M (-11.5%) | $482.4M | ~$421.8M |
| Adjusted diluted EPS (EPS reconciliation) | $0.54 (-50.5%) | $1.09 | ~$0.58 |
| Adjusted EBITDA (Adjusted EBITDA) | $97.5M (-42.8%) | $170.6M | $90M-$95M guide |
| Recurring revenue (Recurring Revenue) | $309.3M (+3.7%) | $298.3M | |
| Q3 ARR bookings (New Bookings) | $23.6M (+87.3%) | $12.6M | |
| FY adjusted EBITDA guidance (Guidance) | $550M-$565M | $545M-$560M prior |
The strongest signal is demand quality, but it has not yet translated into current profit. New ARR bookings surged 86%, recurring revenue grew 4%, and Biller delivered 6% revenue growth with a stable 51% net adjusted EBITDA margin. That supports the modernization and subscription-transition story. The filing states, “Net new ARR bookings in Q3 2026 were $24million, up 86%, from Q3 2025.”
Payment Software remains the execution problem. Its Q3 revenue fell 23% and adjusted EBITDA fell 41%, while net adjusted EBITDA margin dropped to 49% from 64%. Management attributes the revenue decline to renewal timing, but the magnitude of the margin contraction means the recovery still depends heavily on the Q4 renewal close. The filing says, “Payment Software adjusted EBITDA in Q3 2026 was $107million, down 41%, on a reported and constant currency basis from Q3 2025.”
The raised EBITDA outlook is a modest improvement, not a reset of the story. Revenue guidance was reiterated at $1.895 billion-$1.925 billion, while adjusted EBITDA guidance increased by $5 million at both ends to $550 million-$565 million. Cash generation also improved, with year-to-date operating cash flow up 26% to $254 million, giving ACI room to continue repurchases and invest in Connetic and the Cranium Ventures acquisition. The filing states, “The company expects revenue in the range of $1.895billion to $1.925billion and adjusted EBITDA in the range of $550million to $565million, which is up from the range of $545million to $560million.”
Bottom line: ACI showed better bookings, recurring revenue, cash flow, and full-year EBITDA confidence, but the quarter still depends on a large Q4 Payment Software renewal catch-up. The event modestly improves the story, without removing its central execution risk.
