Centrus Energy Corp (LEU) · Nov 4, 2026 · Earnings
Miss — Adjusted EPS -$0.46 vs published consensus around -$0.13
Centrus’ Q3 earnings show its enrichment buildout moving ahead of schedule, but weaker revenue and a larger adjusted loss expose near-term execution pressure.
Centrus is in the middle of a capital-intensive push to rebuild U.S. uranium-enrichment capacity, with Oak Ridge manufacturing feeding a planned Piketon expansion. The operating backdrop had improved before this filing: Centrus had already announced the first centrifuge shipment and completion of its supply chain ahead of its year-end target, while its Westerman acquisition brought a key component supplier in-house.
The buildout is progressing faster than planned, but this was already known. The filing confirms that Centrus shipped its first new centrifuge and says the milestone came two months ahead of schedule: “This achievement, along with us demonstrating that we have a complete manufacturing supply chain in place, was reached two months ahead of our ambitious schedule.” That is strategically important because it reduces manufacturing and supply-chain execution risk, but the news had already been disclosed on October 29, so it is confirmation rather than a fresh earnings surprise.
The quarter itself missed on underlying earnings despite roughly matching revenue expectations. Revenue of $55.5 million was close to the published consensus of about $55.2 million, but adjusted EPS was a $0.46 loss versus a published expectation near a $0.13 loss. The headline $1.41 diluted EPS was mainly an accounting gain, not operating improvement: “The increase was primarily driven by a $46.4 million gain recognized from the fair value adjustment of warrant liabilities.”
| Metric | Q3 2026 | Q3 2025 | Consensus |
|---|---|---|---|
| Revenue (Financial Results) | $55.5M | $74.9M | ~$55.2M |
| Adjusted EPS (Financial Results) | $(0.46) | $0.25 | ~$(0.13) |
| Diluted GAAP EPS (Income Statement) | $1.41 | $0.19 | |
| Operating loss (Income Statement) | $(29.7M) | $(16.6M) | |
| Cash used in operations (Cash Flow statement) | $(11.1M) | $99.4M |
The legacy business weakened while expansion spending accelerated. LEU revenue fell 29% to $31.8 million, and Technical Solutions revenue declined 21% as the DOE HALEU contract contributed $10.2 million less than a year earlier. The company also reported a $3.7 million Technical Solutions gross loss versus a $3.5 million profit last year. “The decrease in revenue was primarily attributable to a $10.2million decrease in revenue generated by the HALEU Operation Contract.”
The strategic runway is better funded, but the cash-flow cost is becoming visible. Cash and equivalents rose to $2.24 billion from $1.96 billion at year-end, supported by $493.8 million of equity, pre-funded-warrant and common-warrant proceeds. But operating cash flow turned negative and capital expenditures reached $226.4 million, consistent with a company spending heavily before the new enrichment capacity contributes revenue. The backlog also expanded to $7.0 billion, although roughly $5.4 billion of the LEU/HALEU portion remains contingent on operational milestones; the DOE’s proposed fiscal 2027 budget excludes further HALEU cascade funding, representing about $0.8 billion of Technical Solutions backlog.
Bottom line: The centrifuge milestone strengthens Centrus’ long-term expansion story, but the new financial information is weaker: underlying earnings missed, revenue fell, cash burn rose, and DOE contract support is fading. The quarter is mixed but leans negative because the strategic progress was already known while the operating deterioration is new. $
