Beat — EPS $0.00 vs ~$0.01 loss consensus
Geron’s third-quarter earnings show RYTELO sales near consensus, a lower expense outlook, and the start of its European commercial launch.
Geron is now a commercial-stage hematology company increasingly dependent on RYTELO in lower-risk myelodysplastic syndromes after discontinuing its Phase 3 IMpactMF trial in relapsed/refractory myelofibrosis. That trial failure was already disclosed on October 28, 2026, so this release mainly tests whether RYTELO’s U.S. launch can carry the business while Europe becomes the next growth avenue.
| Metric | Q3 2026 | Q3 2025 | Consensus / prior guide |
|---|---|---|---|
| Total revenue (Financial Highlights) | $60.2M (+27.5%) | $47.2M | ~$60.36M |
| Diluted EPS (Income Statement) | $0.00 | $(0.03) | $(0.01) |
| Total operating expenses (2026 Guidance) | $220M–$230M | — | $230M–$240M prior guide |
| Cash, equivalents, restricted cash and securities (Cash and Marketable Securities) | $339.4M | — | $326.9M Q2 2026 |
The commercial engine is growing, but not clearly accelerating past the market bar. RYTELO net product revenue rose 5% sequentially to $60.1 million, while demand increased 10% and ordering accounts grew roughly 8% to about 1,700. The revenue figure was just below the published consensus of approximately $60.36 million, while reported EPS of $0.00 was better than the expected $0.01 loss. The clean read is therefore an earnings beat driven more by cost control than by an upside revenue surprise.
Lower spending materially improves the cash-runway story. Geron reduced quarterly operating expenses to $54.4 million from $61.1 million a year earlier, with research and development and selling, general and administrative costs both down. It also cut full-year operating-expense guidance by $10 million at both ends, to $220 million–$230 million. That helped produce a small quarterly profit despite higher cost of goods sold from RYTELO manufacturing and distribution.
The European launch adds a real, but still unproven, growth option. Geron has initiated a gated commercial launch in targeted European markets, with Germany expected by year-end and France in 2027. This advances the company beyond a U.S.-only launch model, but the filing gives no early European revenue or reimbursement data, so the near-term business impact remains prospective rather than demonstrated. 〔0〕
The strategic picture is stronger operationally but narrower clinically. Cash and marketable securities increased to $339.4 million from $326.9 million in the prior quarter, and the company says that funding plus RYTELO revenue should cover operating needs for the foreseeable future. But with IMpactMF discontinued and no approval path expected in relapsed/refractory myelofibrosis, the company’s future is more concentrated in RYTELO’s lower-risk MDS sales and the execution of its international rollout. 〔1〕
Bottom line: This is a modestly better quarter, not a business-model reset: RYTELO demand is healthy, profitability and spending improved, and Europe is beginning. The main surprise is financial discipline rather than a material revenue upside, while the clinical pipeline is now more concentrated around one commercial product.**
Germany RYTELO availability, expected by year-end
