Beat — Adjusted diluted EPS $0.89 vs ~$0.86 consensus
GXO earnings beat Q3 consensus on faster organic growth and stronger wins, but margin compression and weaker free cash flow temper the result.
GXO is in the early execution phase of CEO Patrick Kelleher’s strategy: redirecting sales toward aerospace and defense, technology, industrial and life-sciences customers while using automation and labor-management tools to improve margins. The prior quarter had already established stronger commercial momentum, including $410 million of new wins and 2026 guidance of 4%–5% organic revenue growth, $945–$965 million of adjusted EBITDA and $2.95–$3.15 of adjusted diluted EPS.
The quarter beat the earnings bar, but not by enough to rewrite the story. Adjusted diluted EPS was $0.89 versus published consensus of roughly $0.86, while revenue was $3.59 billion versus approximately $3.54 billion. That is a genuine beat, but the more important operating result is that organic revenue growth accelerated to 6.4% from 4.7% in the prior-year quarter. The commercial funnel is also strengthening: GXO reported $375 million of new business wins, up 34% year over year, with year-to-date wins above $1 billion.
| Metric | Q3 2026 | Q3 2025 | Consensus |
|---|---|---|---|
| Revenue (Income Statement) | $3,590M (+5.7%) | $3,395M | ~$3,540M |
| Organic revenue growth (Organic revenue reconciliation) | 6.4% | 4.7% | |
| Adjusted EBITDA (Adjusted EBITDA reconciliation) | $251M (0.0%) | $251M | |
| Adjusted EBITDA margin (Adjusted EBITDA reconciliation) | 7.0% | 7.4% | |
| Adjusted diluted EPS (Adjusted EPS reconciliation) | $0.89 (+12.7%) | $0.79 | ~$0.86 |
| Operating cash flow (Cash Flow statement) | $156M | $232M | |
| Free cash flow (Free Cash Flow reconciliation) | $85M | $187M |
Growth is improving faster than profitability. Revenue growth and new wins support the strategy, but adjusted EBITDA was flat year over year and its margin fell to 7.0% from 7.4%; operating margin also declined to 2.7% from 3.5%. That means GXO is winning more work, but the filing does not yet show the promised productivity initiatives translating into quarterly margin expansion. The company reaffirmed its full-year targets rather than raising them.
Cash conversion is the main blemish. Operating cash flow fell to $156 million from $232 million and free cash flow dropped to $85 million from $187 million, despite lower capital spending. Year-to-date free cash flow was only $66 million versus $96 million a year earlier, while the company also paid down $401 million of debt and ended September with $2.48 billion of net debt. This does not derail the growth story, but it makes execution and working-capital performance more important as GXO enters 2027.
The next disclosure is strategically important, not just ceremonial. GXO has scheduled its Investor Day for November 16, 2026, where management plans to outline its long-term strategy and financial framework. Given the reaffirmed guidance, the market will likely need that event to explain how today’s stronger sales pipeline becomes durable margin expansion.
Bottom line: This was a modestly better-than-expected quarter and evidence that GXO’s commercial reset is gaining traction. The beat is tempered by weaker margins and cash flow, so the event strengthens the existing story without fundamentally changing it.
