Program terminated — Future SAR448272 milestones and royalties eliminated; prior disclosure cited ~$455M in potential milestones
Nurix’s Sanofi program termination ends the STAT6 trial and eliminates future milestones and royalties, weakening one partnered pipeline branch.
Nurix is a clinical-stage targeted-protein-degradation company whose business has recently shifted toward a better-funded, broader platform: Roche-backed bexobrutideg is moving into Phase 3, while Nurix retains other partnered programs and reported about $1.1 billion in cash, cash equivalents and marketable securities with runway into the second half of 2029.
A real partnered asset has been removed from the pipeline. Sanofi decided to discontinue the Phase 1 trial and terminate SAR448272, Nurix’s oral STAT6 degrader. That is more damaging than a routine reprioritization: the program had only just entered human testing, so the market had been given a live clinical asset rather than merely a preclinical option.
The lost value is mostly future optionality, not an immediate cash hit. Nurix now says it does not expect any future development, regulatory or commercial milestones or royalties from SAR448272. Before this filing, Nurix had disclosed roughly $455 million of remaining potential STAT6 milestones, plus royalties, making the termination a meaningful reduction in the partnered upside attached to its autoimmune pipeline.
The damage is contained, but the filing raises a broader partner-execution concern. Nurix remains eligible for milestones and royalties on other licensed Sanofi programs, and its balance sheet and Roche collaboration keep this from overturning the overall company story. 〔0〕 Still, Sanofi’s decision reinforces that Nurix’s partnered pipeline is not a guaranteed monetization engine, and the filing gives no reason for the discontinuation or evidence that the remaining programs are progressing.
Bottom line: This is a clear setback to Nurix’s Sanofi collaboration and removes a sizeable future milestone opportunity. It weakens the partnered pipeline, but does not overturn the company’s broader Roche-funded development story.
