Two directors added
10x Genomics added two directors with deep immunology, genomics, medtech, finance and audit backgrounds as it expands spatial biology and multiomics.
10x Genomics is building beyond its core single-cell franchise into spatial biology, multiomics and eventual diagnostic applications; its latest Atera platform has begun shipping, while the company recently added Proteintech Genomics capabilities and announced cancer-care research collaborations.
The board additions fit the company’s current strategic direction. Ansuman Satpathy adds direct expertise in genomics, immunology, oncology and AI-enabled drug discovery, while Joseph Gilliam brings public-company operating, healthcare-finance and audit experience. The filing says Satpathy was already a scientific advisor to 10x before joining the board.
Gilliam’s audit-chair appointment is the more practical governance change. His background as president and COO of a publicly traded medical-technology company, former CFO and healthcare investment banker gives 10x additional financial oversight as it manages a broader product portfolio and new commercial investments. The filing states that Gilliam was appointed Chair of the Audit Committee on October 30, 2026. 〔0〕
The signal is strategically useful but not operationally transformative. The appointments strengthen the board around the two capabilities 10x is emphasizing—advanced biology and disciplined medtech execution—but they do not change management, guidance, products or capital allocation. They also come with meaningful equity compensation, including a $400,000 one-time restricted-stock-unit grant and a $215,000 annual grant for each new director. 〔1〕 〔2〕
Bottom line: This is a modestly constructive board upgrade that supports 10x’s spatial-biology and multiomics buildout, but it does not materially change the business story on its own. The next substantive test is the company’s scheduled third-quarter report on November 5, 2026.
