OppFi Inc. (OPFI) · Oct 27, 2026 · Earnings
Miss — Revenue $149.2M vs ~$152.8M consensus; adjusted EPS $0.37 vs ~$0.35
OppFi’s Q3 earnings beat the EPS benchmark, but revenue slipped, credit losses worsened, and 2026 earnings guidance was cut.
OppFi is trying to broaden its bank-partnered digital lending platform beyond its core installment-loan business through a new line of credit, the LOLA application system, and the proposed BNCC acquisition. The strategic direction was already public; this filing shows the existing lending engine is under pressure while those newer growth initiatives are still early.
The quarter was mixed against expectations, not a clean beat. Adjusted EPS of $0.37 exceeded the published consensus of roughly $0.35, but total revenue of $149.2 million fell short of the approximately $152.8 million expectation. Revenue also declined 3.8% year over year, while adjusted net income fell 22.5% to $31.6 million. 〔0〕
| Metric | Q3 2026 | Q3 2025 / expectation | Read |
|---|---|---|---|
| Total revenue | $149.2M | $155.1M prior year; ~$152.8M consensus | Below both |
| Adjusted net income | $31.6M | $40.7M prior year | Down 22.5% |
| Adjusted EPS | $0.37 | $0.46 prior year; ~$0.35 consensus | Above consensus, below prior year |
| Net charge-off rate / revenue | 40% | 35% prior year | Worse by 500 bps |
| Total net originations | $229M | $246M prior year | Down 7% |
| Free cash flow, nine months | $107.5M | $66.1M prior year | Up 62.8% |
| FY 2026 revenue guidance | $600M–$610M | Prior top end $625M | Reduced |
| FY 2026 adjusted EPS guidance | $1.34–$1.40 | Prior top end $1.51 | Reduced |
Credit performance is the central deterioration. The net charge-off rate rose to 40% of revenue from 35%, and the annualized charge-off rate against average receivables climbed to 53% from 47%. Recoveries of previously charged-off loans increased 38% year over year to $15.2 million, but that benefit was not enough to offset elevated new charge-offs. 〔1〕
The lending base is shrinking rather than accelerating. Retained net originations dropped 11% to $191 million, ending receivables declined 5% to $459 million, and average yield slipped to 131% from 133% as delinquency outweighed the benefit of higher statutory rates. Tighter marketing-partner screening may reduce risk, but it also directly limits near-term volume. 〔2〕
Management lowered the financial hurdle for the rest of 2026. The new revenue range is $600 million to $610 million, versus a prior top end of $625 million; adjusted net income now tops out at $120 million versus $130 million previously, and adjusted EPS at $1.40 versus $1.51. That is a meaningful reset, not merely a reaffirmation, and it reflects weaker volume, lower yield, higher losses, and transaction-related costs.
The strategic investments provide optionality but not yet proof of a turnaround. All new customers now run through LOLA, and OppFi launched its line-of-credit product this quarter, but the filing gives no scale, revenue, or loss-performance data for either initiative. The $107.5 million of nine-month free cash flow and $140.7 million of cash and restricted cash support continued investment, while $17.9 million of year-to-date repurchases show capital-allocation flexibility; neither offsets the immediate earnings reset. 〔3〕
Bottom line: OppFi’s EPS held up better than expected, but the core credit book weakened enough to produce a revenue miss and lower full-year guidance. The new products and BNCC deal may broaden the platform later, but this filing is primarily a reset of near-term earnings expectations.
