FDA acceptance — Class 2 resubmission; PDUFA date March 16, 2027
Aquestive’s FDA acceptance of the Anaphylm resubmission creates a defined March 2027 decision date, but does not resolve approval risk.
Aquestive is centered on Anaphylm, its lead regulatory and commercial catalyst: after receiving a January 2026 Complete Response Letter focused on human-factors and supportive pharmacokinetic issues, the company completed corrective studies and had already planned a third-quarter 2026 resubmission.
The FDA has accepted the resubmission as complete and set a decision date. The filing confirms a Class 2 response and a PDUFA goal date of March 16, 2027. 〔0〕 This is meaningful because the application is now back under formal FDA review rather than sitting in a post-CRL remediation phase.
The update is confirmation more than surprise. Aquestive had already disclosed positive human-factors and PK results, reaffirmed a third-quarter resubmission target, and indicated that a typical review could take about six months; the company itself describes the Class 2 outcome as expected. The new information is the precise FDA classification and March 16, 2027 action date, not a new efficacy result or a regulatory endorsement of approval.
The central approval risk remains intact. FDA acceptance means the submission is complete for review; it does not mean the agency agrees that the January CRL deficiencies have been fully resolved. The filing expressly says the FDA could request additional information, studies, or analyses, and could disagree with the company’s interpretation of the new data. 〔1〕
International progress remains a secondary near-term milestone. The company says it remains on track to submit its Canadian New Drug Submission in the fourth quarter of 2026. 〔2〕
Bottom line: This moves Anaphylm from remediation back into a defined FDA review process, which removes timing uncertainty but does not materially reduce the ultimate approval uncertainty. The event is therefore a useful confirmation of the expected path, not a clean regulatory win.
