Bitmine is no longer primarily a mining story: it is building an Ethereum treasury and staking-infrastructure business around MAVAN, while using weekly ETH purchases to pursue ownership of 5% of the token supply. That direction was already established in prior company updates.
The treasury continues to advance, but only incrementally. Bitmine acquired 27,180 ETH over the past week, lifting holdings to 5,956,378 ETH, or 4.9% of total supply. 〔0〕 The company is now 98% of the way to its 5% target, but this is continuation of a well-publicized weekly buying program rather than a new strategic surprise.
| Metric | September 14 update | Prior disclosed update |
|---|---|---|
| ETH holdings (Press Release) | 5,956,378 | 5,929,198 |
| ETH supply owned (Press Release) | 4.9% | 4.9% |
| Total crypto, cash, securities and moonshots (Press Release) | $15.8 billion | $15.7 billion |
| Cash and marketable securities (Press Release) | $549 million | $593 million |
| Staked ETH (Press Release) | 5,067,309 | 5,067,309 |
| Projected annualized staking revenue (Press Release) | $334 million | $340 million |
| 7-day staking yield (Press Release) | 2.62% | 2.67% |
The yield engine is slightly less compelling than last week. Bitmine still has about 85% of its ETH staked, but its reported 7-day yield fell to 2.62% and projected annualized staking revenue declined to $334 million from the $340 million disclosed in the prior update. That is not a business-model setback, but it weakens the incremental operating signal while showing how sensitive the revenue narrative is to short-term staking conditions.
The headline asset base grew without a comparable increase in liquidity. Total holdings rose to $15.8 billion, while cash and marketable securities fell to $549 million. The filing therefore reinforces Bitmine as a concentrated ETH-accumulation vehicle, not a materially more diversified or cash-rich operating company.
The 5% milestone is close, but the remaining value depends on execution and ETH conditions. Bitmine says 5.1 million ETH is already staked and projects $392 million of annualized rewards if the full treasury is eventually staked at the current yield. Those figures are projections based on a short seven-day yield window, so the update adds scale more than it adds certainty.
Bottom line: This is a modest operational advance, not a new catalyst: the ETH treasury keeps expanding, but the lower staking estimate makes the update mixed rather than cleanly positive. The filing matters mainly as confirmation that Bitmine is staying on its aggressive accumulation path.
