4.95% ETH treasury — 6.052M ETH equals 4.95% of supply; 58,067 ETH short of 5%
Bitmine’s crypto update puts ETH holdings at 4.95% of supply and adds another buyback, but mostly confirms the existing treasury playbook.
Bitmine is building an Ethereum treasury at near-network scale while trying to turn staking infrastructure into a second business through MAVAN; its recent updates have followed the same pattern of weekly ETH purchases, staking expansion, and opportunistic buybacks.
The 5% ETH goal is now visibly close, but not yet achieved. Bitmine held 6,051,933 ETH, equal to 4.95% of the stated 122.2 million ETH supply, leaving roughly 58,000 ETH to reach 5% (Press Release — holdings). The company also bought 10,452 ETH during the week. 〔0〕 This advances the core treasury story, but the direction was already well established by prior weekly updates, making the incremental surprise limited.
| Metric | October 25, 2026 | Comparison / implication |
|---|---|---|
| ETH held | 6,051,933 | 4.95% of stated ETH supply (Press Release — holdings) |
| ETH value | $14.26 billion | Based on $2,356 per ETH (Press Release — holdings) |
| Total cash and marketable securities | $514 million | Liquidity alongside the crypto treasury (Press Release — holdings) |
| “Moonshot” holdings | $256 million | $180M Beast Industries plus $76M Eightco Holdings (Press Release — holdings) |
| Total crypto, cash, securities and “moonshots” | $15 billion | Aggregate stated holdings (Press Release — holdings) |
| ETH staked | 5,227,037 | About 86% of ETH holdings; $12.3B at stated ETH price (Press Release — staking) |
| Weekly buyback | 2.04 million shares | Average repurchase price of $22.48 (Press Release — buybacks) |
| 2026 buybacks | 22.9 million shares | $399.6 million at a $17.48 average price (Press Release — buybacks) |
The buyback is the clearest new capital-allocation signal. The company repurchased 2.04 million shares in the past week and says it will continue buying when management views the stock as undervalued. 〔1〕 That supports per-share value if executed below the underlying treasury value, but the filing gives no remaining authorization or valuation measure, so the accretive claim cannot be independently assessed here.
Staking is becoming economically meaningful, but the headline revenue is still a projection. Bitmine says 5.23 million ETH is staked and estimates $318 million of annualized staking revenue at the current level, rising to $368 million if all ETH is staked. Those figures depend on fluctuating yields, full-staking execution, and continued operational performance; they are not reported revenue.
The aggregate asset value is not a clean improvement versus the standing story. The prior October 19 update already disclosed roughly 6.04 million ETH and $15.1 billion of combined holdings, so this release mainly confirms continued accumulation rather than introducing a new strategic turn. The current $15 billion headline also reflects volatile ETH and private-investment marks, not newly generated operating earnings.
Bottom line: This is a modestly constructive confirmation of Bitmine’s existing strategy: it is nearly at 5% of ETH supply, keeps buying, and is using buybacks to manage capital. The business story advances incrementally, but the filing is more progress report than surprise.
