Beat — Adjusted EPS $0.22 vs ~$0.18 consensus
Dauch’s Q3 earnings beat on adjusted EPS, but the automotive supplier lowered its 2026 EBITDA outlook as integration and macro pressures persist.
Dauch is in the middle of absorbing the Dowlais acquisition, turning itself into a much larger global driveline and metal-forming supplier while trying to capture integration synergies across a powertrain-agnostic automotive portfolio. Dowlais has been consolidated since February 3, 2026, so the large year-over-year growth rates mostly reflect the acquisition rather than organic acceleration.
The quarter beat the published earnings bar, but the headline GAAP result deteriorated. Adjusted EPS of $0.22 exceeded the roughly $0.18 consensus, while adjusted EBITDA of $358.5 million landed inside the $355 million-$360 million range Dauch had already previewed. That is execution above expectations on the adjusted earnings measure, but not a fresh operating surprise because the EBITDA result was substantially known before this release. The GAAP loss widened to $45.3 million, or $0.19 per share, from $9.2 million of profit, reflecting heavy interest expense and acquisition, restructuring, derivative and other costs.

The more important new information is the lower full-year EBITDA ceiling. Dauch cut the 2026 adjusted EBITDA range from $1.360 billion-$1.425 billion to $1.350 billion-$1.375 billion, lowering the midpoint by about $30 million and the high end by $50 million. Management attributed the pressure to customer production volatility, inflation and higher energy costs; the cut says the integration story is progressing, but the operating environment is making it harder to convert scale into the earnings originally expected. The preliminary announcement on October 30 already disclosed the cut, so this filing confirms rather than introduces that negative reset.
Cash generation improved sequentially, but the annual cash picture remains investment-heavy. Quarterly adjusted free cash flow reached $126.7 million, ahead of last year, even as Dauch continued funding restructuring, acquisition and synergy work. For the first nine months, however, reported free cash flow was negative $95.9 million, with $297.3 million of capital spending and $331.6 million spent on acquisitions. The company narrowed its full-year adjusted free cash flow target to $270 million-$310 million from $260 million-$325 million, which is effectively a tighter range around the prior midpoint rather than a material upgrade. 〔0〕
The business is larger, but the cost of becoming larger is still obscuring the underlying payoff. Sales nearly doubled and adjusted EBITDA rose sharply because of Dowlais, while interest expense also doubled year over year and restructuring and acquisition-related costs reached $196.1 million through nine months. That leaves the core integration thesis intact, but with less 2026 earnings cushion than investors were previously given.
Bottom line: Dauch delivered an adjusted earnings beat and solid quarterly cash flow, but the lower EBITDA outlook matters more because it trims confidence in the near-term Dowlais integration payoff. The filing modestly weakens the current business story rather than overturning it.
