Anika Therapeutics, Inc. (ANIK) · Nov 6, 2026 · Earnings
Miss — Adjusted EPS $0.29 vs ~$0.42 consensus
Anika’s Q3 earnings beat revenue expectations and lifted 2026 guidance, but adjusted EPS missed consensus and Hyalofast’s FDA setback complicates the pipeline.
Anika is an HA-based orthopedic products company trying to turn faster commercial growth, Integrity adoption and its Cingal/Hyalofast pipeline into durable profitability; its prior quarter had already established strong growth and sharply improved adjusted earnings.
The operating quarter was healthy, but not a clean earnings beat. Revenue reached $30.6 million, 10% above last year and ahead of the available published consensus near $29.4 million, with Commercial Channel revenue up 17% and OEM revenue up 5% (Revenue by Channel). But adjusted diluted EPS was $0.29 versus published expectations around $0.42, so the financial scorecard is a miss despite the revenue outperformance. Gross margin improved to 62% from 56%, and adjusted EBITDA rose to $5.1 million from $0.9 million (Financial Summary; Adjusted EBITDA reconciliation).
| Metric | Q3 2026 | Q3 2025 | Consensus / prior guide |
|---|---|---|---|
| Revenue (Revenue by Channel) | $30.6M (+10%) | $27.8M | ~$29.4M |
| Adjusted diluted EPS (Adjusted EPS reconciliation) | $0.29 | $0.04 | ~$0.42 |
| GAAP diluted EPS (Income Statement) | $(0.02) | $(0.22) | |
| Gross margin (Financial Summary) | 62% | 56% | |
| Adjusted EBITDA (Adjusted EBITDA reconciliation) | $5.1M | $0.9M |
Guidance improved overall, but the mix reveals a slower commercial trajectory. Anika raised the low end of full-year revenue growth to 6%-10% from 5%-10% and lifted adjusted EBITDA margin guidance to 15%-17% from 13%-17% (Fiscal 2026 and 2027 Guidance). 〔0〕 The catch is that Commercial Channel growth was cut to 9%-13% from 12%-18%, while OEM growth was raised to 5%-9% from 0%-5%. That is a better near-term earnings framework, but it relies more heavily on OEM execution and less on the higher-growth commercial franchise.
The pipeline took a material step backward even as the core business advanced. Cingal enrollment is complete and the company still targets an NDA submission before year-end 2027. 〔1〕 However, the FDA determined that Hyalofast’s PMA application was not approvable, primarily because of the submitted clinical data. 〔2〕 That does not eliminate the product, but it removes a nearer-term regulatory catalyst and makes the path to U.S. commercialization less certain.
The new Hyvisc partnership adds useful commercial durability, but its benefits are back-loaded. The 10-year Boehringer Ingelheim agreement improves transfer pricing, adds royalties and provides $8 million of expected payments, including $4 million in the first quarter of 2027 and another $4 million tied to commercial volumes. This strengthens visibility and economics, but it does not fully offset the weaker Commercial Channel outlook or the Hyalofast setback today.
Bottom line: Anika’s core execution and profitability trajectory improved enough to lift guidance, but the quarter still missed adjusted-EPS expectations and carried a meaningful pipeline setback. The business is progressing, though the growth story is becoming more dependent on OEM execution and existing products while Hyalofast’s U.S. path is reassessed.
Cingal NDA submission before year-end 2027
