Fluor Corp (FLR) · Nov 6, 2026 · Earnings
Miss — Adjusted EPS $0.77 vs ~$0.80 consensus
Fluor earnings showed record quarterly awards and a 21% backlog increase, but adjusted EPS modestly missed consensus and guidance was only reaffirmed.
Fluor is rebuilding around large energy, infrastructure, and government-project work after legacy project losses and litigation volatility; its Q2 position already showed a sharp backlog recovery and heavy reimbursable exposure. This quarter strengthens that operating story, but the earnings result itself was slightly below the published adjusted-EPS consensus of about $0.80.
The core business momentum was substantially better than the headline EPS suggests. Quarterly new awards reached a company record of $10.9 billion, led by LNG Canada Phase 2 and mining projects, while total backlog rose 21% year over year to $34.3 billion.

Energy Solutions is now the main growth engine, but execution is not clean yet. The segment’s backlog more than doubled to $10.7 billion and quarterly profit reached $93 million versus a $533 million loss last year, although the release attributes part of the improvement to milestone economics and says cost growth on a large mining joint-venture project was a partial offset. 〔0〕
The quality of the quarter is mixed beneath the record bookings. Adjusted EPS rose only to $0.77 from $0.68 and missed the roughly $0.80 consensus, while operating cash flow remained negative at $21 million for the first nine months. The company also repurchased $1.1 billion of stock, funded largely by asset-sale proceeds rather than recurring operating cash generation. The reaffirmed EBITDA range avoids a guidance cut, but it does not raise the bar after the unusually strong awards quarter.
Bottom line: This was a stronger bookings and backlog quarter than an earnings quarter. Fluor’s future workload is expanding, especially in Energy Solutions, but the slight EPS miss, weak operating cash flow, and unchanged guidance keep the read mixed rather than decisively positive.
