Beat — Adj. EPS $0.80 vs ~$0.75–$0.76 consensus; sales $229.7M vs ~$219.9M consensus
Helios Technologies earnings beat Q3 expectations and lifted full-year sales guidance, but narrowed EBITDA margin and adjusted EPS ranges.
Helios is in the middle of a profitable-growth rebuild: its CORE strategy is combining organic motion-control growth with Electronics expansion, acquisitions, operating-footprint changes, and a measured entry into data-center thermal management. The prior quarter had already established a higher 2026 outlook, including $880–$900 million of sales and $3.05–$3.25 of adjusted EPS.
The quarter itself was a clear beat, but not a clean acceleration. Adjusted diluted EPS of $0.80 exceeded the published ~$0.75–$0.76 consensus, while sales of $229.7 million also topped the roughly $219.9 million consensus. The filing says sales were above the high end of company guidance and adjusted earnings exceeded expectations. 〔0〕
| Q3 2026 | Q3 2025 | Consensus | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sales (Consolidated Results) | $229.7M (+4%) | $220.3M | ~$219.9M |
| Adjusted diluted EPS (Adjusted Net Income reconciliation) | $0.80 (+11%) | $0.72 | ~$0.75–$0.76 |
| Adjusted EBITDA margin (Adjusted EBITDA reconciliation) | 20.3% (-20 bps) | 20.5% | |

The underlying business is broadening, especially in Electronics. Hydraulics sales were essentially flat year over year at $142.9 million, with APAC weakness offsetting growth in the Americas and EMEA. Electronics sales rose 10% to $86.8 million, and the segment swung from a $13.7 million operating loss to $12.4 million of operating income as last year’s goodwill impairment disappeared. That supports the company’s effort to make Electronics a stronger growth and profit contributor, although part of the year-over-year improvement is a comparison benefit. 〔1〕
Management raised the sales outlook but gave back some profit confidence. Full-year sales moved to $895–$902 million from $880–$900 million, lifting the midpoint by about $8.5 million. But the adjusted EBITDA margin range narrowed to 20.2%–20.4% from 20.2%–21.0%, and adjusted EPS narrowed to $3.08–$3.15 from $3.05–$3.25; both new midpoints are slightly below the prior midpoints. The filing attributes the tighter profitability outlook to the acquisition and inflationary costs, while saying pricing benefits and Radio Sound synergies should arrive mainly in 2027. 〔2〕
The data-center initiative produced its first commercial proof point, but revenue impact is still ahead. Faster secured its first thermal-management order after quarter-end, a meaningful validation of the market-entry plan, yet the filing provides no order value or timing for material contribution. 〔3〕
Cash generation and leverage give the strategy room to continue. Nine-month operating cash flow reached $105.7 million, free cash flow was $120.9 million over the trailing twelve months, and net debt-to-adjusted EBITDA improved to 1.4x from 2.4x a year earlier. That allowed Helios to fund the Electronics acquisition, repay debt, repurchase $19 million of stock in the quarter, and maintain its dividend without an obvious balance-sheet setback.
The beat is partly diluted by timing and a softer profit trajectory. Management specifically said the quarter exceeded guidance partly because customer orders were pulled forward by announced price increases, while fourth-quarter sales are expected to moderate and fourth-quarter adjusted EBITDA margin is guided to 18.5%–19.5%. 〔4〕
Bottom line: Helios is executing well enough to beat near-term expectations and raise the sales ceiling, with Electronics and cash generation improving. But the lower-quality, margin-constrained outlook keeps this from being a clean upgrade to the business story; it is a modestly positive quarter with real execution caveats.
