$0.18 distribution — $0.18 total vs. $0.27 for Q4 2026
Horizon’s dividend announcement keeps the regular $0.06 monthly payout for early 2027, but drops the special distribution that boosted recent payments.
Horizon is a specialty finance company funding venture-backed technology, life-science, healthcare and sustainability businesses with secured loans; after its Monroe Capital merger, it is rebuilding portfolio income while carrying meaningful spillover income. Its latest reported quarter showed $0.33 per share of undistributed spillover income, but also lower net investment income and a sharp NAV hit from portfolio marks.
The regular distribution is intact, but the extra income cushion is no longer being passed through. Horizon declared $0.06 per share for each of January, February and March 2027. That matches the regular monthly rate already announced for the prior quarter, so the core payout has not been cut.
| Distribution | Jan–Mar 2027 | Q4 2026 |
|---|---|---|
| Regular monthly (Distribution table) | $0.06 | $0.06 |
| Total per share (Distribution table) | $0.18 (-33.3%) | $0.27 |
The meaningful change is the disappearance of the $0.03 monthly special payment. Q4 2026 totaled $0.27 per share because Horizon added $0.09 of special distributions on top of the $0.18 regular payout; the new filing announces only $0.18. That is not a cut to the stated regular dividend, but it is a step down in total cash returned to shareholders and suggests the board is being less aggressive about distributing spillover income despite previously reporting $0.33 per share of it.
This is a modest signal about distribution policy, not a rewrite of the lending story. The filing does not change Horizon’s portfolio strategy, funding, or operating outlook; it simply confirms the regular payout while withholding the extra payment that had recently become part of the quarterly setup. The company says the board sets distributions using operating results, spillover income and its longer-term outlook. 〔0〕
Bottom line: Horizon preserved its recurring $0.06 monthly distribution, but the loss of the special payment makes the total payout lower than the market had just been receiving. It is a modestly negative change to the income story, not a fundamental change to the business.
