Beat — Revenue $141M vs ~$136M consensus
Grindr’s Q3 earnings beat revenue expectations, while higher 2026 guidance and a first 2027 outlook reset the growth story around Edge and Freddie.
Grindr is in the middle of a deliberate shift from a highly monetized dating app into a broader gay-focused platform, with Edge as its premium AI product and Freddie as the first meaningful healthcare business. The prior quarter had already framed Edge as a major 2027 growth driver, so the strategic direction was known; this filing supplies the first operating proof points and a much larger financial framework.
The quarter cleared the published revenue bar and kept the core engine healthy. Revenue rose 22% to $141 million, ahead of the roughly $136 million consensus, while Average Paying Users grew 11% and ARPPU grew 10%. Adjusted EBITDA reached $62 million, although the margin eased to 44% from 47% a year earlier. The reported net loss is less representative of the underlying quarter because it included a $33 million litigation settlement and $3 million of deal costs.

Management raised the near-term bar rather than merely repeating it. Full-year 2026 revenue guidance moved to at least $560 million from approximately $540 million, and Adjusted EBITDA guidance moved to at least $236 million from approximately $232 million. That is a genuine execution signal: the existing app is producing enough momentum to absorb investment in Edge and the newly acquired healthcare operation without breaking the long-term margin framework.
The bigger change is that Grindr has now put numbers around a second growth engine. The PurposeMed/Freddie acquisition closed on November 2, but the acquisition itself was already announced, making the closing partly known rather than a fresh surprise. The new information is the 2027 framework: at least $705 million of revenue and $275 million of Adjusted EBITDA, or 26% growth with a 39% margin. Freddie is already profitable, but much of the upside depends on integrating care into Grindr, expanding in-house pharmacy capacity, and lifting U.S. patients from roughly 12,000 at year-end 2026 toward 50,000 over time.
Edge has an unusually strong early demand signal, but the monetization test still lies ahead. Nearly 400,000 users registered for early access in 72 hours, versus a 100,000 first-week stretch goal, and the product will launch globally on November 17 at $120 per month. That supports the premiumization thesis, but the planned subscriber cap of 1% of monthly active users means the product is designed to increase revenue per user, not broadly expand the paying base. The important unknown is how many registrants convert and remain willing to pay the premium price.
Bottom line: This is more than a routine earnings beat: Grindr raised 2026 guidance and established a credible, quantified 2027 growth plan built around Edge and Freddie. The story is materially stronger, though the next proof points are conversion of Edge interest and execution in scaling healthcare operations.
