$25B buyback — $25B new authorization; dividend raised to $0.33 from $0.26
Lam Research announces a $25 billion buyback and raises its quarterly dividend to $0.33, reinforcing cash returns while leaving repurchase timing discretionary.
Lam is operating from a position of accelerating semiconductor-equipment demand: its latest quarter saw revenue rise 22% sequentially, driven by foundry and memory customers, while operating cash flow reached $3.50 billion. The company had already been returning capital aggressively, including a $1.00 billion accelerated share repurchase during the quarter.
The new signal is the scale of the capital-return commitment. Lam authorized up to $25 billion of additional repurchases, on top of the prior authorization balance. That is materially larger than the $10 billion authorization disclosed in its prior filings, although it is an authorization rather than a promise to spend the full amount.
The dividend increase adds a second, more immediate return signal. The quarterly dividend rises to $0.33 per share from the $0.26 declared during fiscal 2026. This supports the view that Lam believes its cash generation can fund shareholder returns while continuing investment in semiconductor equipment and research.

The limitation is execution, not funding capacity. The program has no termination date, can be suspended or discontinued, and does not require Lam to buy any shares. 〔0〕 The announcement therefore strengthens the capital-allocation story, but it does not by itself change operating earnings or guarantee a near-term reduction in share count.
Bottom line: Lam materially raises the ceiling on shareholder returns and increases the dividend, a clear upgrade to an already established cash-return policy. It matters as a confidence signal, but the buyback’s ultimate impact depends on how much Lam actually deploys.
