Guidance cut — FY adjusted EBITDA loss $32M-$35M vs. prior $25M-$30M
Surf Air Mobility earnings showed record revenue and rapid On Demand growth, but higher fuel costs and SurfOS delays forced a deeper full-year EBITDA loss guide.
Surf Air Mobility is in the Expansion Phase of a transformation from a regional airline into a software-enabled air mobility platform: Surf On Demand is becoming the growth engine, while SurfOS is being commercialized with third-party operators. That strategy was already established before this report, with the company having guided to Q3 revenue of $35.5M-$37.5M and an Adjusted EBITDA loss of $4M-$7M.
The quarter itself was better than the published revenue bar, but not a clean earnings win. Revenue reached $36.5M, above a published Q3 consensus of roughly $34.1M and near the top of company guidance; Adjusted EBITDA loss was $6.7M, inside the company’s range but weaker than the midpoint.
| Figure | Q3 2026 | Comparison | Consensus / prior guide |
|---|---|---|---|
| Revenue (Financial Results) | $36.5M (+25%) | $29.2M | ~$34.1M |
| Adjusted EBITDA loss (Non-GAAP reconciliation) | $6.7M (+32% improvement) | $9.9M loss | $4M-$7M loss guide |
| Surf On Demand revenue (Financial Results) | $19.0M (+121%) | — | — |
| Airline scheduled-service revenue (Financial Results) | $17.5M (-15%) | — | — |
| FY revenue guidance (Financial Outlook) | $128M-$138M | — | Prior $128M-$138M |
| FY Adjusted EBITDA loss (Financial Outlook) | $32M-$35M | — | Prior $25M-$30M |
The business mix is improving in the direction management wants, but the airline is still shrinking to make room for it. Surf On Demand revenue more than doubled, departures rose 86%, and the airline generated $1.2M of positive Adjusted EBITDA. However, scheduled-service revenue fell 15% after route exits, meaning the headline growth increasingly depends on the newer, more scalable businesses.
The important change is the full-year profitability reset. Revenue guidance was reaffirmed, but the expected Adjusted EBITDA loss widened from $25M-$30M to $32M-$35M because higher fuel prices and longer SurfOS implementation periods are offsetting the operational gains. That makes the quarter’s revenue beat less decisive: growth is arriving, but the path to profitability is taking longer than previously expected.
Liquidity remains a constraint on the expansion story. The company completed its $21.6M asset-backed loan facility, but quarter-end cash was only $10.7M against $127.2M of current liabilities, while the shareholder deficit remained $45.5M. The financing supports execution, but the company still has limited room for further delays or weaker operating performance.
Bottom line: Surf Air is executing the growth mix shift—especially in Surf On Demand—but the deeper full-year EBITDA loss forecast shows the transition is costing more and taking longer than expected. The report is therefore mixed, leaning negative despite the quarterly revenue beat.
