Innodata earnings beat as AI demand lifts 2026 guidance

Beat — Revenue $95.6M, ~15% above consensus; diluted EPS $0.29, ~70% above consensus

Innodata earnings beat consensus across revenue, EBITDA and EPS, while new AI programs push 2026 growth guidance higher despite margin pressure.

Innodata is an AI data-engineering provider moving beyond generative-AI support into agentic reinforcement learning, evaluation and physical-AI data work. Its prior trajectory was already strong: Q2 had reiterated 2026 revenue growth of at least 40% while highlighting early wins in agentic AI. The quarter materially exceeded the existing bar. Revenue reached $95.6 million, up 53% year over year, and management said it exceeded consensus by approximately $12.3 million, or 15%. Adjusted EBITDA was $17.7 million, about 9% above last year, while diluted EPS of $0.29 was roughly 21% above the prior-year $0.24 and about 70% above consensus. The core message is not merely continued growth; execution was well ahead of what analysts had modeled.

The guidance raise confirms the beat is operational, not just a one-quarter surprise. Full-year 2026 revenue-growth guidance moved to at least 42% from at least 40%. 〔0〕 That is a modest increase, but it matters because management says it incorporates the wind-down of a large-customer program, implying replacement wins are already sufficient to offset a known headwind rather than merely being aspirational.

The business is broadening, although concentration has not disappeared. A customer that was less than 5% of revenue a year ago became the largest customer, and Innodata has already signed an approximately $18 million Q4 program with it. Five new hyperscaler programs are expected to produce more than $20 million of revenue in 2027, versus only $3.1 million generated over the prior twelve months. 〔1〕 This is meaningful progress against the company’s earlier dependence on a small number of large AI customers; its 2025 annual report identified one DDS customer as roughly 58% of total revenue. But the wording “two customers of comparable scale” still describes concentration, not a fully diversified revenue base.

The main offset is margin quality. Adjusted gross margin fell to 40% from 44% year over year, even as adjusted gross profit grew 38.5%. Adjusted EBITDA rose much more slowly than revenue, and quarterly stock-based compensation increased to $6.8 million from $2.7 million. That does not erase the earnings beat, but it says the incremental revenue is currently coming with heavier delivery and compensation costs rather than clean operating leverage.

Physical AI is an important option, not yet reported revenue. Innodata launched a motion-capture lab in September and is running pilots with robotics and frontier-model companies; one successful pilot could produce approximately $7 million of 2027 revenue. 〔2〕 The strategic direction fits the company’s existing move into agentic AI, but the near-term earnings beat is still being delivered by existing customer programs, while the physical-AI contribution remains contingent on pilots converting.

Bottom line: This is a clear earnings beat with a credible, modest guidance raise and broader customer traction. The story strengthens materially, though margin compression and continued large-customer concentration keep it from being a complete business-model reset.
