ALPHA & OMEGA SEMICONDUCTOR Ltd (AOSL) · Nov 5, 2026 · Earnings
Beat — Non-GAAP EPS -$0.07 vs ~$0.14 loss consensus; revenue $177.8M vs ~$176.2M
Alpha and Omega Semiconductor’s earnings beat expectations as AI and server revenue surged, improving margins despite sharp declines in traditional PCs.
AOS is in the middle of a diversification pivot: its historical PC-heavy power-semiconductor business is being redirected toward AI servers, advanced computing, and other higher-content applications. The company had already identified advanced computing as a growth focus, with fiscal 2026 advanced-computing revenue up 16.8% year over year.
The quarter modestly beat the market’s bar. Revenue was $177.8 million versus published consensus of roughly $176.2 million, while non-GAAP diluted EPS was a $0.07 loss versus an expected loss of about $0.14. That is a real beat, although the business remained unprofitable and revenue was still down 2.6% from the prior year.
| Metric | Q1 FY27 | Q4 FY26 | Consensus |
|---|---|---|---|
| Revenue (Financial Comparison) | $177.8M (+4.3%) | $170.4M | $176.2M |
| Non-GAAP gross margin (Financial Comparison) | 25.2% (+150 bps) | 23.7% | |
| Non-GAAP diluted EPS (Financial Comparison) | $(0.07) | $(0.13) | $(0.14) |
| Q2 non-GAAP gross margin (GAAP to Non-GAAP Outlook) | 25.7% | ||
| Q2 non-GAAP operating expenses (GAAP to Non-GAAP Outlook) | $46.0M |
The more important result is the mix shift, not the headline revenue. Advanced Computing grew more than 50% sequentially and 80% year over year, reaching nearly 23% of company revenue, while AI and server applications alone reached approximately 20% of total revenue versus 5.5% a year earlier. That growth exceeded the company’s prior expectation for more than 40% sequential Advanced Computing growth and is evidence that the AI infrastructure pivot is beginning to offset the legacy PC downturn. 〔0〕 〔1〕
Higher-value demand is improving the economics, but has not yet produced profitability. Non-GAAP gross margin rose to 25.2% from 23.7% as AI/server, premium smartphone battery protection, power tools, and industrial products gained weight. Still, non-GAAP operating income remained negative at $1.0 million and non-GAAP net income was a $2.1 million loss. The $4.0 million JV-related gain helped GAAP earnings but was excluded from non-GAAP EPS, so the adjusted beat was not simply an accounting benefit.
The next quarter points to continued mix improvement, not a clean recovery. Management expects AI/Advanced Computing to reach another record and forecasts total revenue to rise slightly sequentially and approximately 10% year over year, but worsening traditional-PC demand is expected to push total Computing revenue down mid-to-high single digits sequentially. The outlook therefore supports the transformation thesis while confirming that the old PC business remains a meaningful drag. 〔2〕
Bottom line: This was a modest beat with a genuinely encouraging AI/server mix shift and better margins. It advances AOS’s diversification story, but the company is still working through PC weakness and has not yet converted the growth into consistent adjusted profitability.
