Beat — Revenue $84.6M vs ~$80.8M consensus; FY EBITDA guide raised to $25.0M-$26.0M
Honest Company earnings show the portfolio transition working: organic growth accelerated, margins expanded sharply, and full-year guidance rose again.
Honest is midway through a portfolio reset: it is shrinking lower-margin or exited businesses such as apparel, fulfillment and Canada while building wipes and personal care as its higher-growth, higher-margin core. That strategy was already showing traction in Q2, when organic revenue rose 6.7%, underlying gross margin reached 43.8%, and management raised its full-year outlook.
The transition accelerated in Q3, not just continued. Revenue fell 8.6% because of strategic exits and diaper weakness, but organic revenue rose 9.2%, ahead of the roughly $80.8 million published revenue consensus on reported sales of $84.6 million. Wipes and personal care consumption grew 13.2%, substantially faster than their comparison categories, which supports the idea that Honest is replacing weaker revenue with a better mix rather than merely shrinking.
| Metric | Q3 2026 | Q3 2025 | Consensus / prior guide |
|---|---|---|---|
| Revenue (Financial Highlights) | $84.6M (+4.7% vs consensus) | $92.6M | ~$80.8M |
| Organic Revenue (Financial Highlights) | $79.3M (+9.2%) | $72.6M | |
| Underlying Adjusted Gross Margin (Financial Highlights) | 48.9% (+1,160 bps) | 37.3% | |
| Underlying Adjusted EBITDA (Financial Highlights) | $6.3M (+78%) | $3.5M | |
| FY Revenue outlook (Financial Outlook) | $322M-$325M | $319M-$325M | |
| FY Organic Revenue growth (Financial Outlook) | 6%-7% | 5%-7% | |
| FY Adjusted Gross Margin (Financial Outlook) | 45.5%-46.5% | Mid-40%s | |
| FY Adjusted EBITDA (Financial Outlook) | $25M-$26M | $23M-$25M |
Margins and cash generation are the strongest part of the report. Underlying adjusted gross margin reached a record 48.9%, while underlying adjusted EBITDA margin expanded to 7.9% despite heavier marketing investment. Nine-month free cash flow was $30.5 million versus negative $4.5 million a year earlier, and cash stood at $103.0 million with no debt. The $89.4 million tax benefit inflated GAAP net income to $91.3 million, so the underlying $3.1 million adjusted profit is the cleaner measure of operating progress.
The second guidance increase makes this more than a one-quarter beat. Compared with the outlook issued after Q2, Honest lifted the revenue floor, tightened organic growth toward the top end, raised the gross-margin range, and increased the EBITDA range to $25 million-$26 million. That magnitude suggests management believes the mix shift and cost improvements are becoming durable, although reported revenue will remain pressured while exited businesses roll off. 〔0〕
The new $30 million buyback reinforces the balance-sheet confidence, but it is secondary to the operating result. Honest had already completed its prior $25 million authorization and ended September with more than $100 million of cash, so the authorization is meaningful capital deployment but does not change the central business story.
Bottom line: Honest is showing the portfolio reset working faster than expected: the headline revenue decline masks accelerating organic growth, sharply better margins, and another outlook raise. The tax benefit is one-off, but the operating improvement and cash generation are genuine, making this a clearly stronger quarter for the underlying business story.
