Beat — Revenue $62.4M vs ~$61.7M consensus; non-GAAP EPS -$0.05 vs roughly -$0.06
SoundHound earnings beat revenue expectations, but a 27% workforce reduction and weaker margins show the LivePerson integration is forcing a sharper reset.
SoundHound is a fast-growing voice and agentic-AI platform integrating LivePerson into its OASYS strategy. Before this report, the company had raised its 2026 revenue outlook to $230 million–$260 million and was still building toward profitability while absorbing acquisitions.
The quarter beat a modest earnings bar, but the quality of growth weakened. Revenue rose 48% year over year to $62.4 million, slightly above published expectations of about $61.7 million, while non-GAAP loss per share was $0.05 versus an adjusted-loss expectation of roughly $0.06. The headline growth is real, but gross margin fell sharply to 34.1% from 42.6%, and adjusted EBITDA loss widened to $20.7 million from $14.5 million.

| Non-GAAP EPS (Financial Highlights) | $(0.05) | $(0.03) | ~$(0.06) consensus |
| GAAP gross margin (Financial Highlights) | 34.1% (-8.5 pp) | 42.6% | |

| Cash (Balance Sheet) | $207.6M | $248.5M at Dec. 31 |
The 27% workforce reduction is the real change to the story. SoundHound implemented the restructuring on November 4, targeting approximately 27% of its current global workforce, with $18 million–$22 million of pretax charges and $16 million–$19 million of cash spending, mostly in the fourth quarter. This is not routine integration housekeeping; it signals that management believes the post-LivePerson cost structure is too heavy for the current revenue model.
The restructuring creates a credible savings lever, but also confirms execution strain. Management says annualized cost synergies could reach $120 million, with more than $80 million of actions taking effect before January 1, 2027. That could materially improve the path to adjusted EBITDA profitability in the second half of 2027, but the company is trying to achieve it while gross margins are falling, operating cash use has risen to $96.0 million for the first nine months, and customer-facing operations are being reorganized.
The balance sheet can absorb the near-term reset, but the business still needs better operating conversion. SoundHound ended September with $207.6 million of cash and only $3.8 million of short-term debt. That limits immediate financing pressure, yet the quarter shows that revenue growth alone is not translating into improved underlying profitability. The market received a small earnings beat, but the more important message is that management is cutting deeply to preserve the longer-term platform strategy.
Bottom line: SoundHound exceeded the quarter’s modest financial expectations, but the 27% workforce reduction makes this a profitability rescue as much as an integration plan. The event modestly weakens the near-term operating story while leaving the longer-term cost-savings thesis intact.
