Mannkind Corp (MNKD) · Nov 5, 2026 · Earnings
Miss — Revenue $101.9M vs ~$107.7M consensus; EPS $(0.07) vs ~$(0.06)
MannKind’s Q3 earnings missed consensus despite rapid Furoscix ReadyFlow adoption and stronger commercial-product sales. The launch is working, but spending and losses remain elevated.
MannKind is moving from a catalyst-heavy development story into a commercialization transition: it is scaling Furoscix and pediatric Afrezza while advancing inhaled therapies in orphan lung disease. The prior quarter had already established the three major catalysts—pediatric Afrezza, Furoscix ReadyFlow approval, and positive nintedanib data—so this report’s real test was whether those catalysts were converting into commercial growth.
The quarter missed the published financial bar. Revenue of $101.9 million came in below the roughly $107.7 million consensus, while GAAP EPS of $(0.07) was modestly worse than the approximately $(0.06) expected. That makes this a miss, although the gap was limited rather than a breakdown. 〔0〕
| Q3 2026 | Q3 2025 | Consensus | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Total revenue (Financial Results) | $101.9M (-5.4%) | $82.1M | $107.7M |
| Commercial product sales (Statements of Operations) | $45.0M (+102%) | $22.3M | |
| GAAP EPS (Statements of Operations) | $(0.07) | $0.03 | $(0.06) |
| Net loss (Statements of Operations) | $(23.2M) | $8.0M |
The underlying commercial launch signal is better than the headline miss. Furoscix produced $22.4 million of quarterly revenue, and ReadyFlow shipments began in mid-September; by late October, roughly 75% of Furoscix shipments had shifted to the new device. Pediatric Afrezza also lifted average monthly new-to-brand prescriptions by about 80% versus Q2. 〔1〕 〔2〕
The cost of scaling is currently outrunning the revenue benefit. Selling, general and administrative expense more than doubled to $61.4 million, driven by Furoscix promotion, expanded field teams, and the Afrezza pediatric launch. The company also says Furoscix carries a lower gross margin than Afrezza, so greater product adoption does not yet translate one-for-one into profit. 〔3〕
Liquidity is still a constraint on the transition. Cash, cash equivalents, and investments totaled $96.6 million at September 30, down from $111 million at June 30, while the balance sheet still showed a $37.3 million stockholders’ deficit. The July $50 million private placement funded the $45 million Furoscix-related CVR payment, so the financing bought time for the launch rather than creating a large new cash cushion.
Bottom line: ReadyFlow adoption and commercial-product growth show that MannKind’s launch strategy is gaining traction, but Q3 still missed expectations because heavy launch spending, lower Furoscix margins, and ongoing losses offset that progress. The business story is improving operationally, but not cleanly enough for a positive earnings verdict yet.
