Voyager Therapeutics, Inc. (VYGR) · Nov 5, 2026 · Earnings
Miss — EPS −$0.40 vs ~−$0.41 consensus; revenue $4.0M vs ~$6.35M consensus
Voyager’s third-quarter earnings kept key Alzheimer’s data milestones on schedule, but revenue missed consensus as partner-funded work moved beyond research.
Voyager is a clinical-stage neuroscience biotech approaching two Alzheimer’s inflection points: VY7523 PET imaging data in Q4 2026 and first dosing of VY1706. Those milestones were already the company’s central story after its second-quarter report, when both programs were expected to advance before year-end.
The quarter missed on revenue, despite a roughly in-line loss. Collaboration revenue was $4.0 million versus a published Q3 consensus of roughly $6.35 million, while the $0.40 per-share loss was close to the approximately $0.41 expected loss. The revenue shortfall reflects lower Neurocrine-related recognition as partnered work moves beyond the research phase, so it is more a sign of changing collaboration accounting and activity mix than a direct collapse in Voyager’s wholly owned pipeline.
| Q3 2026 | Q3 2025 | Consensus | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Collaboration revenue (Financial Results) | $4.0M (-70.0%) | $13.4M | ~$6.35M |
| R&D expense (Financial Results) | $24.4M (-32.0%) | $35.9M | |
| Net loss (Statement of Operations) | $24.7M (-11.5%) | $27.9M | |
| Diluted loss per share (Statement of Operations) | $0.40 | $0.47 | ~$0.41 |
| Cash and marketable securities (Balance Sheet) | $132.1M | $201.7M |
The core clinical timeline was preserved, but not accelerated. Voyager says the last VY7523 patient visit is complete and still expects tau PET efficacy data in Q4 2026, which keeps the most immediate clinical catalyst intact. 〔0〕 VY1706 is less firm: the prior plan called for Q4 2026 dosing, while the new release says dosing should begin “in the next few months,” pending enrollment. That makes the timing look somewhat softer rather than clearly improved.
Cost control extends the runway, but mostly buys time rather than changing the science. R&D and general and administrative spending both fell year over year, and Voyager now says its $132.1 million cash position funds planned operations into Q2 2028. 〔1〕 That is useful balance-sheet support ahead of the data readouts, although cash declined from $149 million at the end of Q2, so the longer runway depends on the stated spending discipline and expected reimbursements.
Partnered pipeline progress remains credible but is still future-dated. Neurocrine’s Friedreich’s ataxia program is now expected to enter Phase 1 “in the coming months,” with patient-level data in 2027; this is directionally positive for pipeline breadth, but it remains an anticipated partner milestone rather than new clinical evidence. 〔2〕
Bottom line: The business remains on track for its main Alzheimer’s data event, and tighter spending reduces near-term financing pressure. But the revenue miss and less precise VY1706 timing make this a slightly weaker quarter overall, not a meaningful upgrade to the story.
