Miss — Revenue $32.9M vs ~$37.1M consensus; billings $57.2M vs $61M-$67M guide
Cardlytics earnings missed on revenue and billings versus its Q3 targets, while lower costs preserved near-break-even EBITDA and Q4 growth depends on rebuilding supply.
Cardlytics is in a post-reset rebuilding phase: it is trying to replace lost platform supply by adding financial-institution partners, grow its advertiser base, and reach self-sustainability through a leaner cost structure. Its prior Q3 framework called for roughly flat sequential performance as the business stabilized around those investments.
The quarter missed on the operating metrics that drive the recovery. Revenue was $32.9 million, below the company’s $34 million-$39 million Q3 guide and the published consensus of about $37.1 million; billings were $57.2 million, below the $61 million-$67 million guide. Management itself said, “Our third quarter results came in below expectations.” 〔0〕
| Metric | Q3 2026 | Q3 2025 | Guide / Consensus |
|---|---|---|---|
| Revenue (Financial Highlights) | $32.9M (-30%) | $47.0M | $34M-$39M / ~$37.1M |
| Billings (Financial Highlights) | $57.2M (-32%) | $84.1M | $61M-$67M |
| Adjusted Contribution (Financial Highlights) | $19.4M (-24%) | $25.6M | $20M-$23M |
| Adjusted EBITDA (Financial Highlights) | $0.4M (-88%) | $3.3M | $0M-$3M |
Cost control softened the miss but did not solve the growth problem. Adjusted contribution margin improved to 33.9% of billings from 30.4%, and operating expenses fell materially, but adjusted EBITDA still dropped to $0.4 million from $3.3 million. The business is leaner, yet the revenue base is shrinking faster than the cost structure can offset it.
The supply rebuild remains an intention rather than demonstrated traction. Management says it is “building supply by adding new CRP partners and continuing to grow our advertising base,” while Q4 guidance assumes sequential growth in revenue to $35 million-$39 million and billings to $63 million-$69 million. That outlook is a recovery plan, not evidence that the underlying demand and partner-supply engine has turned.
Cash generation remains the central constraint. Cardlytics used $20.1 million of operating cash in the first nine months and ended September with $29.9 million of cash against $194.7 million of convertible notes and lines of credit. The quarter therefore leaves less room for execution mistakes even though the company says it is working toward self-sustainability.
Bottom line: This was a modest operational setback, not a reset of the whole story: Cardlytics is controlling costs, but its core platform is still contracting and the partner-supply rebuild has yet to show up in revenue. Q4 guidance calls for improvement, but this filing makes that recovery more necessary and less proven.
