Miss — Diluted EPS $0.05 vs ~$0.70 consensus; revenue $3.265B vs ~$4.68B consensus
’s Q1 earnings show sharper-than-expected revenue and EPS declines, partly offset by wider margins and higher EBITDA.
is integrating the Monex and Sunshine Minting acquisitions into a vertically integrated precious-metals platform spanning retail, wholesale, financing, and minting. Monex closed in January 2026 and Sunshine Minting was expanded through an April 2026 acquisition, making this the first quarter in which the enlarged platform is being judged on its operating contribution.
The quarter missed the market’s operating bar by a wide margin. Published estimates pointed to roughly $4.68 billion of revenue and $0.70 of EPS, versus reported revenue of $3.265 billion and diluted EPS of $0.05. The filing itself frames the quarter as a slowdown from the exceptional June quarter: revenue fell 35% sequentially, while diluted EPS fell from $0.41 to $0.05.

|---|---|---|---|
| Revenue (Financial Summary) | $3.265B (-11%) | $3.681B | ~$4.68B consensus |
| Gross profit (Financial Summary) | $89.6M (+23%) | $72.9M | $110.3M prior quarter |
| Gross margin (Financial Highlights) | 2.74% | 1.98% | 2.20% prior quarter |
| Diluted EPS (Income Statement) | $0.05 | $(0.04) | ~$0.70 consensus |
| EBITDA (Non-GAAP reconciliation) | $17.4M (+22%) | $14.3M | $28.2M prior quarter |
| Operating cash flow (Cash Flow statement) | $(638.6)M | $195.4M | — |
The underlying economics improved, but not enough to overcome the volume reset. Gross profit rose 23% year over year and gross margin expanded to 2.74% from 1.98%, suggesting better mix, pricing, or integration benefits even as headline revenue contracted. Gold and silver ounces sold also increased year over year, while the company says revenue excluding the decline in forward sales rose 51%; that makes the reported top-line miss look partly like a change in forward-sale activity rather than a simple collapse in customer demand.
The growth platform is gaining customers, but engagement is not accelerating cleanly. New direct-to-consumer customers rose 38% year over year, helped by Monex and JM Bullion, and total customers increased 13%. But active customers were up only 1% year over year and down 8% sequentially, while average order value fell 10% year over year. That combination points to a larger customer funnel without comparable near-term purchasing intensity.
Cash generation is the main complication beneath the adjusted-profit improvement. EBITDA improved year over year, but operating cash flow swung to a $638.6 million use, driven heavily by a $700.5 million reduction in deferred revenue and working-capital movements. Cash fell to $126.8 million from $578.0 million at June 30, while product financing arrangements rose to $314.9 million from $89.2 million. The filing does not present this as a liquidity event, but it does show that reported earnings and EBITDA substantially overstated the quarter’s cash conversion.
The dividend was maintained, not increased. The board declared the existing $0.20 quarterly dividend, payable December 2, 2026, so this is confirmation of the current capital-return policy rather than a new positive signal.
Bottom line: delivered better margins and year-over-year adjusted profitability, but the quarter was still a clear earnings miss because revenue, EPS, sequential activity, and cash flow all weakened sharply. The acquisitions are expanding the platform, yet this filing does not show that the enlarged business is converting that scale into results at the pace the market expected.
