Airship AI Holdings, Inc. (AISP) · Nov 5, 2026 · Earnings
Miss — Revenue $6.23M vs ~$7.4M consensus
Airship AI earnings show sharp revenue and gross-profit growth, but Q3 revenue missed consensus and headline EPS was driven by noncash liability gains.
Airship AI is transitioning from small, lumpy federal deployments into a broader edge-and-enterprise AI platform, with Outpost and Fortress hardware/software today and an agentic AI layer planned for initial customer release around year end. The prior quarter already showed accelerating revenue, a $206 million validated pipeline, and a focus on reaching positive operating cash flow by year-end.
Revenue growth was real but below the market’s bar. Q3 revenue rose sharply from $1.18 million a year earlier to $6.23 million, but fell short of published expectations around $7.4 million. 〔0〕 That makes the quarter a genuine operating step forward, but still an earnings miss rather than an unqualified beat.
| Q3 2026 | Q3 2025 | Consensus | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Net revenue (Financial Highlights) | $6.23M (+429%) | $1.18M | $7.4M |
| Gross profit (Financial Highlights) | $3.50M (+480%) | $0.60M | |
| Gross margin (Financial Highlights) | 56.2% | 51.3% | |
| Operating loss (Financial Highlights) | $0.56M | $2.87M | |
| Net income (Financial Highlights) | $9.62M | $6.36M | |
| Operating cash flow (Cash Flow statement) | $0.38M | ||
| Backlog (Operational Highlights) | $28.3M | $11.0M | |
| Validated pipeline (Operational Highlights) | $215M |
The reported profit is much less meaningful than the revenue line. Net income of $9.62 million was overwhelmingly supported by $10.18 million of other income, including $6.83 million from revaluing warrant liabilities and $3.23 million from revaluing earnout liabilities. The $0.28 basic EPS therefore looks like a beat against the published loss expectation, but it does not show comparable improvement in the underlying business.
Underlying execution improved materially, though margins cooled from Q2. Gross profit reached $3.50 million and the company generated positive operating cash flow, while the operating loss narrowed to $561,000 despite continued spending on sales, marketing, and research and development. 〔1〕 The 56.2% gross margin is still above last year’s roughly 51%, but below Q2’s 75%, so the mix is improving year over year without yet showing a steady margin trajectory.
The demand story strengthened, but much of the backlog news was already public. The company ended the quarter with $28.3 million of backlog and a $215 million validated pipeline, with several larger DHS opportunities expected to close between Q4 2026 and Q1 2027. 〔2〕 However, the market had already seen October disclosures of $29 million in DHS awards and a record $30.6 million backlog, so the quarter’s operational commentary mostly confirms an existing federal-demand narrative rather than creating a fresh surprise.
The next leg depends on converting federal demand and launching the software layer. Airship says its agentic AI product should reach initial customers around year end, potentially shifting the model toward more software revenue and broader use of customers’ existing camera and data infrastructure. That is strategically important, but remains an upcoming product milestone rather than Q3 revenue today.
Bottom line: The core business is scaling quickly and now funding itself operationally, but the quarter missed the revenue bar and the headline EPS was largely accounting-driven. This advances the long-term story, but not enough to offset the near-term earnings miss.
