Beat — Adjusted EPS $4.64 vs ~$4.22 consensus
Ralph Lauren earnings beat expectations, powered by Asia and full-price demand, while management raised its Fiscal 2027 revenue and margin outlook.
Ralph Lauren is in the second year of its “Next Great Chapter: Drive” plan, using brand elevation, core-category expansion and key-city direct-to-consumer growth to build a more global luxury platform. Asia has been the clearest growth engine, while the company has been trying to protect full-price selling and expand margins.
The quarter beat the market’s bar on both sales and earnings. Revenue rose 9% to $2.2 billion, ahead of published expectations around $2.12 billion, while adjusted diluted EPS reached $4.64 versus roughly $4.22 consensus. The earnings beat is meaningful because it came alongside higher full-price selling and a 9% increase in average unit retail prices, not simply heavier discounting. 〔0〕
| Q2 FY2027 | Q2 FY2026 | Consensus | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Net revenue (Financial Statements) | $2,193.3M (+9.1%) | $2,010.7M | ~$2,120M |
| Adjusted diluted EPS (Non-U.S. GAAP reconciliation) | $4.64 (+22%) | $3.79 | ~$4.22 |
| Adjusted operating margin (Non-U.S. GAAP reconciliation) | 15.7% (+160 bps) | 14.1% | |
| Asia revenue (Segment Information) | $571.3M (+28.2%) | $445.6M | |
| Inventory (Balance Sheets) | $1,151.2M (-8.7%) | $1,261.3M |
Asia is doing more than carrying the headline. Asia revenue increased 28% and comparable-store sales rose 24%, with digital commerce up 31% and brick-and-mortar sales up 23%. China revenue grew more than 35%, suggesting the regional expansion is producing broad demand rather than relying on one channel.
The quality of growth improved, although the reported margin jump overstates the underlying gain. Reported gross margin rose to 74.2% because of $82.3 million of tariff refunds. Excluding that benefit, adjusted gross margin still expanded to 70.5% from 68.0%, helped by pricing, geographic mix and lower product costs. Adjusted operating margin reached 15.7%, up 160 basis points, but operating expenses grew 11%, so the company is still investing heavily behind the growth plan.
Management raised the full-year outlook beyond the prior quarter’s upgrade. Constant-currency revenue growth is now centered at 6%–7%, up from 5%–6%, and operating-margin expansion is now expected at 80–100 basis points, up from 60–80 basis points. That makes the guidance change the clearest new information in the filing, not merely a confirmation of a strong quarter. 〔1〕
The main qualification is that the second-half setup is less explosive than the first-half numbers. Third-quarter revenue growth is guided to only 3%–4% in constant currency, including a one-point drag from wholesale timing and strategic off-price reductions, while holiday marketing spending rises. The outlook is still raised overall, but the company is signaling a more normalizing growth rate after a particularly strong first half.
Bottom line: This is a clear step forward for Ralph Lauren’s growth-and-margin story: the company beat expectations, Asia remains powerful, and full-year guidance moved higher again. The result is materially better than the prior standing assumption, though tariff refunds and unusually strong first-half comparisons mean the underlying operating improvement is smaller than the headline GAAP numbers suggest.
