Beat — Adjusted EPS $(0.16) vs ~$0.54 consensus; EBITDA $47M vs $39M prior year
Enviri’s third-quarter earnings beat expectations, with stronger margins in Environmental and Rail supporting a higher 2026 EBITDA outlook.
Enviri is in the early phase of a post-Clean Earth transformation: it now consists mainly of Harsco Environmental and Harsco Rail, while exiting troubled European engineered-to-order rail contracts and trying to rebuild earnings through cost reduction and productivity initiatives. The prior setup already pointed toward improvement—second-quarter guidance was reaffirmed after both businesses exceeded expectations—but the new quarter shows more progress than that baseline implied.
The quarter beat on the metrics that matter most for the turnaround. Adjusted EPS was a loss of $0.16 versus a published consensus of roughly $0.54, while revenue was $325 million versus roughly $317 million expected. Adjusted EBITDA reached $47 million, up from $39 million a year earlier, and the company said the result was better than anticipated. 〔0〕

Environmental is becoming the dependable earnings engine. Harsco Environmental grew revenue 5% to $273 million, lifted adjusted EBITDA to $50 million from $44 million, and expanded margin to 18.2% from 17.0%. That is the clearest evidence that higher service volumes, pricing, and internal improvement actions are translating into operating leverage.
Rail improved operationally, but it is not yet a growth business. Harsco Rail’s adjusted EBITDA moved to $1 million from a $4 million loss despite revenue falling to $52 million from $64 million, helped by lower costs and a better mix after exiting the Deutsche Bahn and Network Rail contracts. The Deutsche Bahn exit also removes a major source of future execution risk, with Enviri having already repaid $73 million of customer advances and receiving an $8 million GBM payment, but Rail remains a low-margin segment and its full-year outlook is still a loss of $7 million to $10 million.
The guidance raise is the filing’s biggest incremental signal. Harsco Environmental’s 2026 adjusted EBITDA target moved to $180 million–$184 million from the prior $170 million–$180 million range, while Rail’s new $(7) million–$(10) million range is materially better than the prior $(26) million–$(19) million outlook. Management also identified approximately $40 million of additional earnings growth over the next two years from its improvement program, although that longer-term benefit remains an execution target rather than delivered performance.
Cash conversion remains the unresolved weakness. Operating cash flow was negative $7 million and adjusted free cash flow was negative $18 million in the quarter, so the earnings improvement has not yet translated into positive quarterly cash generation. That limits how far this report can rewrite the story: the business is executing better, but the turnaround still needs to prove it can produce durable cash flow after restructuring and contract exits.
Bottom line: This is a meaningful beat-and-raise quarter that strengthens Enviri’s recovery story, led by Environmental and a cleaner Rail portfolio. It advances the business materially, but cash flow and Rail’s continued losses remain the tests for whether the improvement is durable.
