Viatris Q3 earnings beat as guidance rises despite flat sales

Beat — Adjusted EPS $0.71 vs ~$0.64 consensus

Viatris’ Q3 earnings beat consensus and lifted 2026 guidance, but flat revenue and Nashik supply disruptions temper the upgrade.

Viatris is trying to turn a mature generics-and-established-brands portfolio into a steadier, higher-margin growth platform through new launches, pipeline approvals, cost discipline and bolt-on deals, while still dealing with Nashik manufacturing disruption. The prior quarter had already raised the 2026 outlook, so the bar entering this report was execution rather than a turnaround surprise.

The quarter beat on adjusted earnings, not on demand. Adjusted EPS of $0.71 exceeded the published consensus of roughly $0.64, while revenue of $3.75 billion fell short of the roughly $3.79 billion consensus. The earnings beat came with essentially flat operational revenue, meaning margin, mix and cost control—not broad-based sales acceleration—did most of the work.

The guidance increase is the clearest positive change. Viatris lifted the midpoint of every major 2026 target: revenue by $50 million, adjusted EBITDA by $100 million, adjusted EPS by $0.08 and adjusted free cash flow by $100 million. 〔0〕 That is meaningful because the company is raising profitability and cash expectations even though the quarter’s reported sales were flat.

The upgrade is partly offset by a real operating constraint. The Nashik plant suspension is now expected to last until the first quarter of 2027, with about $100 million of revenue disruption in both the third and fourth quarters. 〔1〕 This was already a known risk from the prior quarter, but the current filing confirms it is actively limiting near-term growth rather than merely creating a remote supply-chain concern.

The growth engine is improving, but it is still narrow. Greater China grew 10% operationally in the quarter and new products generated roughly $115 million, with full-year new-product revenue now expected at approximately $450 million. Those gains helped offset declines in Developed Markets, Emerging Markets and JANZ, plus additional product competition. The filing therefore supports progress in the portfolio transition, but not yet a broad acceleration in the underlying top line.

The Pacira deal adds strategic ambition without changing this quarter’s numbers. Viatris agreed to acquire Pacira for $1.65 billion, and the transaction is excluded from the raised 2026 guidance. Its effect belongs to the next phase of the story, with closing expected by the end of November and integration benefits still unproven.

Bottom line: This is a modestly better report, driven by an earnings beat and a broad guidance raise. But flat revenue, concentrated growth and ongoing Nashik supply losses keep it from being a decisive reset of Viatris’ growth story.
