CFO departure — Resignation effective Nov. 20; interim successor has 18 years at Gibraltar
Gibraltar’s CFO is leaving November 20, with a longtime treasurer taking over temporarily as the company integrates OmniMax and searches for a successor.
Gibraltar is in the middle of a major portfolio transition: it bought OmniMax for roughly $1.335 billion, is integrating that business, and is shifting more heavily toward residential building products while working to reduce leverage. Residential is expected to represent about 80% of the 2026 business, making execution and financial control especially important during the integration phase.
The CFO departure adds execution uncertainty at an awkward point. Joe Lovechio is leaving effective November 20 to pursue another opportunity, which removes a finance leader involved in the company’s recent portfolio simplification, M&A, and integration work. 〔0〕
The internal replacement materially limits the disruption. Jeffrey Watorek, Gibraltar’s treasurer since 2017, will become interim CFO while the company searches for a permanent successor; the filing describes the move as providing continuity in financial leadership. 〔1〕 〔2〕
This is a manageable negative, not evidence of a financial-control problem. The filing explicitly says Lovechio’s resignation was not caused by disagreement over operations, reporting, policies, or practices, and Watorek has deep company-specific experience, including treasury, M&A, planning, and tax. 〔3〕
Bottom line: The event slightly weakens Gibraltar’s execution story because a key finance executive is leaving during the OmniMax integration. The long-tenured interim appointment keeps the business transition orderly, so the main unresolved issue is how quickly the company finds a permanent CFO.
