Beat — Revenue $622M vs ~$567M consensus
Unity’s Q3 earnings beat revenue expectations as Vector accelerated Grow Solutions and pushed the company into its first GAAP-profit quarter since its IPO.
Unity entered this quarter in the middle of a deliberate reset: it is shifting growth toward its Vector-powered advertising business, while sunsetting the ironSource Ads Network and exiting Supersonic publishing. That strategy was already visible before this filing, and management had previously targeted GAAP profitability by Q3 2026.
The core growth engine is outperforming the reset drag. Q3 revenue reached $622.1 million, materially above the published consensus of roughly $567 million, while Strategic Revenue climbed 59% to $596.6 million. Grow Solutions drove the upside at $457 million, up 44% year over year, with the company specifically attributing the increase to the Unity Ads Network and Vector.
| Figure | Q3 2026 | Q3 2025 | Consensus |
|---|---|---|---|
| Revenue (Financial Highlights) | $622.1M (+32%) | $470.6M | ~$567M |
| Strategic Revenue (Revenue Highlights) | $596.6M (+59%) | $374.9M | |
| Adjusted EBITDA (Non-GAAP Reconciliation) | $256.6M (+134%) | $109.5M | |
| Adjusted EPS (Non-GAAP Reconciliation) | $0.44 | $0.20 | |
| Free cash flow (Free Cash Flow Reconciliation) | $219.7M (+45%) | $151.3M | |
| Q4 Strategic Revenue guidance (Guidance) | $683M–$691M |
Profitability arrived with real operating leverage, not just revenue growth. Unity generated $100.6 million of GAAP operating income and $121.6 million of GAAP net income, versus a $125.9 million operating loss and $126.8 million net loss a year earlier. Adjusted EBITDA more than doubled to $256.6 million, with margin expanding to 41% from 23%.
The quality of the improvement is strongest in cash generation, though the business is not fully clean yet. Operating cash flow rose to $224 million and free cash flow to $220 million, while cash and restricted cash reached $2.65 billion. The main caveat is that Create Solutions grew only 8% and non-strategic revenue fell 73% as Unity removed ironSource and Supersonic, so the headline growth depends increasingly on Vector sustaining its early momentum.
The filing also brings a near-term balance-sheet checkpoint. Unity disclosed plans to pay off convertible notes due November 15, 2026, so the next phase of the story is whether it can preserve this cash-generation profile while retiring that obligation and continuing to invest in Vector and newer AI initiatives. 〔0〕
Bottom line: This is a clear execution beat that strengthens Unity’s turnaround story: Vector is producing faster growth while cost control has pulled profitability forward. The result matters because it validates the new Grow-led model, although the durability of Vector—not the one-quarter profit milestone—is now the key test.
Convertible notes due November 15, 2026
