Bob's Discount Furniture, Inc. (BOBS) · Nov 5, 2026 · Earnings
In line — Adjusted EPS $0.28 vs ~$0.28 consensus; revenue $680.4M vs ~$663.3M
Bob’s Discount Furniture earnings topped revenue expectations, while tariff-adjusted margins weakened and adjusted profit held in line.
Bob’s is in the middle of a store-expansion and market-entry phase: it had already reaffirmed its fiscal 2026 revenue, adjusted EBITDA and adjusted net income ranges, with roughly 20 new stores planned. This quarter shows that expansion is producing sales growth, but tariff and operating-cost pressure is limiting the quality of the margin improvement.
Sales execution was better than expected. Third-quarter revenue rose 10.3% to $680.4 million, ahead of the published consensus of roughly $663.3 million, while GAAP diluted EPS reached $0.31 versus about $0.28 expected. The top-line beat is meaningful because it came alongside continued store investment and stable industry demand.
| Q3 2026 | Q3 2025 | Consensus | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Net revenues (Income Statement) | $680.4M (+10.3%) | $616.9M | ~$663.3M |
| Diluted EPS (Income Statement) | $0.31 | $0.29 | ~$0.28 |
| Adjusted diluted EPS (Non-GAAP reconciliation) | $0.28 | $0.29 | ~$0.28 |
| Adjusted gross margin (Adjusted gross profit and margin) | 45.7% | 46.0% | |
| Adjusted EBITDA (Non-GAAP reconciliation) | $75.5M | $64.2M |
The headline margin expansion is less clean than GAAP results suggest. Gross margin rose to 46.4%, but that included $4.9 million of tariff refunds; excluding that benefit, adjusted gross margin fell to 45.7% from 46.0% as higher inventory, fuel and tariff costs offset better product mix, delivery margins and selective pricing. 〔0〕 Adjusted EPS of $0.28 was therefore only in line with expectations, despite the GAAP EPS beat.
The operating model is still scaling, but the quarter did not upgrade the core outlook. SG&A grew more slowly than revenue, falling to 36.7% of sales from 37.7%, and adjusted EBITDA margin improved to 11.1% from 10.4%. However, fiscal 2026 adjusted EBITDA and adjusted net income guidance stayed unchanged, while the reported net income range moved down to $145–$153 million from the prior $152–$160 million range. The company also lowered expected pre-opening costs to about $23 million from $26 million but raised its tax-rate assumption to about 28% from 27%.
Cash generation supports continued expansion. Year-to-date operating cash flow increased to $204.8 million from $118.7 million, while capital investment is funding new stores and early work on a Georgia distribution center. That improves the funding backdrop for the expansion plan, although it does not change the near-term earnings outlook.
Bottom line: This was a solid sales quarter and a modest operational positive, but not a clean earnings upgrade. Revenue outperformed and cost leverage helped, while tariff-adjusted margins weakened, adjusted EPS matched expectations and the core full-year outlook was merely maintained rather than raised.
