Beat — Net sales $112.8M vs. approximately flat guidance; adjusted EBITDA $5.1M vs. $3–5M guide
Brilliant Earth’s Q3 earnings beat its own sales and EBITDA guidance, with gross-margin expansion offsetting softer average order values and weaker year-to-date profitability.
Brilliant Earth is a digitally native, omnichannel fine-jewelry retailer expanding beyond bridal through new fine-jewelry products and a growing U.S. showroom network; its 2025 annual report described 42 showrooms and a strategy built around showroom expansion, digital commerce, and broader purchase occasions. The quarter cleared the company’s own bar. Brilliant Earth had guided to approximately flat year-over-year Q3 sales and $3–$5 million of adjusted EBITDA; actual sales grew 2.3% and EBITDA reached $5.1 million. Management explicitly said both measures exceeded guidance. 〔0〕
| Metric | Q3 2026 | Q3 2025 | Prior Q3 guide |
|---|---|---|---|
| Net sales (Financial Highlights) | $112.8M (+2.3%) | $110.3M | ~$110.3M |
| Adjusted EBITDA (Financial Highlights) | $5.1M (+43.7%) | $3.6M | $3–$5M |
| Adjusted EBITDA margin (Financial Highlights) | 4.5% (+130 bps) | 3.2% | — |
| Total orders (Financial Highlights) | 52,720 (+5.6%) | 49,910 | — |
| AOV (Financial Highlights) | $2,140 (-3.1%) | $2,209 | — |
| Gross margin (Financial Highlights) | 59.7% (+210 bps) | 57.6% | — |
The quality of the quarter improved even though customer spending per order softened. Orders rose 5.6%, but average order value fell 3.1%; the stronger result therefore came from volume and a 210-basis-point gross-margin expansion rather than customers buying more expensive items. That is a constructive sign for the broader fine-jewelry and omnichannel strategy, but it leaves the company reliant on sustained traffic and conversion.
The year-to-date picture is less clean than the headline quarter. Through September, sales were up 4.6%, but adjusted EBITDA fell 20.9% to $6.2 million and adjusted EBITDA margin declined to 1.9% from 2.5%. The Q3 rebound meaningfully improves the trajectory, yet it does not erase the weaker first-half profitability or show that the full-year earnings recovery is fully established.
This advances execution without rewriting the business story. Brilliant Earth is demonstrating that its fine-jewelry expansion and cost discipline can produce a better quarter than expected, but the improvement is still modest relative to the company’s ongoing profitability challenge. Bottom line: Q3 was a genuine beat on the company’s guide and a step forward in margins, but it is an execution improvement—not a fundamental reset of the story yet.
