Beat — Adjusted EPS $0.92 vs ~$0.84 consensus and $0.82-$0.86 guidance
Vontier’s Q3 earnings beat consensus, with cost cuts driving a sharp margin gain and management raising its full-year outlook despite the Teletrac drag.
Vontier is in the middle of a portfolio cleanup: it has exited Teletrac Navman and is concentrating on fueling, convenience-retail automation, payments and repair tools while using its 80/20 program to push margins higher. The key question was whether the divestiture-related revenue hole would overwhelm the underlying business; the filing says it did not.
The quarter beat the bar on both earnings and sales. Adjusted diluted EPS was $0.92 versus the published consensus of roughly $0.84, while sales of $736.9 million topped the company’s $720-$735 million guide and the roughly $728 million consensus. The result also exceeded management’s own Q3 guidance across sales, margin and EPS. 〔0〕
| Metric | Q3 2026 | Q3 2025 | Consensus / guide |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sales (Financial Statements) | $736.9M | $752.5M | ~$728.0M consensus |
| Core sales growth (Sales Growth Reconciliation) | 5.7% | — | — |
| Adjusted diluted EPS (Non-GAAP Reconciliation) | $0.92 | $0.78 | ~$0.84 consensus; $0.82-$0.86 guide |
| Adjusted operating profit (Operating Profit Reconciliation) | $179.3M | $160.0M | — |
| Adjusted operating margin (Operating Profit Reconciliation) | 24.3% | 21.3% | — |
| Adjusted free cash flow (Free Cash Flow Reconciliation) | $133.1M | $93.6M | — |
| Net leverage (Net Debt Reconciliation) | 2.3x | — | — |
The quality of the beat was margin-led, not volume-led. Reported sales declined 2.1% because of the Teletrac Navman divestiture, but core sales grew 5.7%. Environmental & Fueling Solutions grew core sales 13.1% and expanded its operating margin to 31.6%, while Mobility Technologies delivered 2.2% core growth and lifted margin to 25.9%. 〔1〕 〔2〕 〔3〕
The operating model is showing real leverage, though not every business is healthy. Company adjusted operating margin rose 300 basis points to 24.3%, with Mobility Technologies up 740 basis points and Environmental & Fueling Solutions up 240 basis points, supporting the claim that simplification is improving profitability. Repair Solutions remains the weak spot: core sales fell 1.0% and margin dropped 180 basis points to 19.1% amid pressure on technicians’ discretionary spending and unfavorable mix. 〔4〕
Management raised the full-year outlook, making the beat more consequential than a one-quarter variance. The filing does not provide the revised full-year figures, but it explicitly says the company now has confidence to raise its outlook. Cash generation also improved sequentially and year over year in the quarter, although nine-month adjusted free cash flow remained below the prior year and cash fell to $258.4 million after heavy debt repayment and $280 million of share repurchases.
Bottom line: This was a genuine earnings beat that advances Vontier’s central simplification story: underlying demand is growing and cost actions are converting that growth into much better margins. Repair remains a drag, but the raised outlook makes the quarter clearly more than routine execution.
