Ecovyst earnings beat as EBITDA tops guidance and outlook rises

Beat — Adj. diluted EPS $0.23 vs ~$0.21 consensus; EBITDA $61.2M vs $54M-$59M guide

Ecovyst’s third-quarter earnings beat consensus, with EBITDA above guidance and full-year guidance raised again despite weaker cash flow and higher leverage.

Ecovyst is transitioning from a sulfuric-acid-focused supplier into a broader sulfur-chemistry platform after adding Calabrian’s sulfur-dioxide business, while benefiting from strong refinery utilization and mining demand. The Calabrian acquisition was already known; this quarter is the first meaningful test of its contribution and integration.

MetricQ3 2026Q3 2025Consensus / prior guide
Sales (Financial Statements)$308.6M (+50.6%)$204.9M~$287.5M consensus
Adjusted EBITDA (Adjusted EBITDA reconciliation)$61.2M (+6.4%)$57.5M$54M-$59M guide
Adjusted diluted EPS (Adjusted Net Income reconciliation)$0.23$0.19~$0.21 consensus

The quarter cleared both the company’s operating bar and published expectations. Sales of $308.6 million exceeded the roughly $287.5 million consensus, while adjusted diluted EPS of $0.23 was above approximately $0.21. Adjusted EBITDA reached $61.2 million, above the prior $54 million-$59 million quarterly range. The revenue beat was helped by higher sulfur-cost pass-through, stronger regenerated-acid volumes, and the first full quarter of Calabrian; that makes the headline growth less purely organic, but the operating result still exceeded the standing plan. The filing says, “Third quarter 2026 Adjusted EBITDA was $61.2million, up $3.7million or 6%, compared to $57.5million in the third quarter of 2025.”

The bigger change is another upward reset to the full-year outlook. Management raised FY26 adjusted EBITDA guidance to $208 million-$212 million from $195 million-$207 million, with the high end moving up by $5 million. The filing attributes the improvement to strong nine-month momentum and a refinery turnaround moving from the fourth quarter into early 2027. That is a genuine improvement versus the pre-filing story, although part of the boost reflects timing rather than permanently higher capacity. The filing says, “we are again raising our full-year Adjusted EBITDA guidance to a range of $208million to $212million.”

Calabrian is tracking as an execution success so far, but the balance sheet is carrying the expansion. Management says the acquired business performed consistently with its investment thesis and that integration is underway. At the same time, net leverage rose to 2.1x from 1.2x at year-end after the $100 million acquisition-related term-loan increase, and cash fell to $71.2 million. The company still reported $167 million of total liquidity, but the acquisition has made debt reduction and cash conversion more important to the next phase of the story.

Cash generation is the main offset to the earnings beat. Nine-month operating cash flow from continuing operations improved modestly to $80.7 million, but adjusted free cash flow declined to $32.4 million from $42.4 million as capital spending and acquisition-related costs absorbed more cash. This does not overturn the operating improvement, but it means the stronger EBITDA has not yet translated into proportionally stronger discretionary cash flow.

Bottom line: Ecovyst delivered a clear earnings beat and raised guidance again, strengthening the post-Calabrian growth story. The result matters, but the next proof point is whether the acquired earnings convert into cash while leverage comes back down.
