Beat — Revenue $336.1M vs ~$329M consensus; EPS $(0.56) vs ~$0.59 loss consensus
Lemonade’s Q3 earnings beat consensus and lifted 2026 revenue and GEP guidance, but higher claims costs and spending kept GAAP losses elevated.
Lemonade is scaling an AI-native insurance platform through faster geographic expansion, broader Car availability, and new distribution opportunities while pursuing its first positive Adjusted EBITDA quarter in Q4 2026. The quarter advances that growth-and-profitability story, but not cleanly.
The quarter beat the published bar. Revenue reached $336.1 million and diluted EPS was $(0.56), ahead of pre-filing published expectations of roughly $329 million and $(0.59), respectively. Lemonade also delivered $1.55 billion of IFP, up 34%, while customers grew 23% to 3.52 million.
| Metric | Q3 2026 | Q3 2025 | Consensus |
|---|---|---|---|
| Revenue (Financial Highlights) | $336.1M (+73%) | $194.5M | ~$329M |
| Diluted EPS (Income Statement) | $(0.56) | $(0.51) | ~$(0.59) |
| Adjusted EBITDA (Financial Highlights) | $(20.4M) | $(25.6M) | |
| Gross loss ratio (Insurance Supplement) | 65% | 62% | |
| Gross profit margin (Key Metrics) | 35% | 41% |
Guidance moved higher where it matters for near-term revenue. Lemonade reiterated its $1.632–$1.639 billion FY26 IFP target, but raised FY26 GEP guidance to $1.382–$1.386 billion from the prior $1.369–$1.373 billion range and revenue guidance to $1.231–$1.235 billion from $1.197–$1.203 billion. It also maintained the expected first positive Adjusted EBITDA quarter in Q4. 〔0〕
The growth engine is working, but underwriting economics softened. Adjusted gross profit increased 49% to $120.5 million, and the ratio of adjusted gross profit to GEP improved to 33% from 29% a year earlier. However, the gross loss ratio rose to 65% from 62%, while gross profit margin fell to 35% from 41%. The deterioration was particularly visible in Pet, Car, and Europe, with Europe’s gross loss ratio reaching 104%. That makes the stronger revenue figure less clean than the headline growth rate suggests.
Profitability is improving on an adjusted basis, but spending remains the bridge. Adjusted EBITDA loss narrowed to $20.4 million from $25.6 million, and operating cash flow turned positive at $7.3 million. But net loss widened to $43.7 million from $37.5 million, helped by higher stock-based compensation and interest expense, while growth spend rose $24.5 million year over year.
The next proof point is whether growth converts into durable margins. Lemonade ended the quarter with $1.2 billion of cash and investments and continued expanding Renters and Car availability, but the higher loss ratio means the Q4 profitability target depends on marketing efficiency and expense leverage arriving without further underwriting slippage. 〔1〕
Bottom line: This was a modest beat with higher revenue guidance, strengthening Lemonade’s growth story. The result is not a clean acceleration toward profitability because claims costs and customer-acquisition spending both moved higher, leaving execution—not demand—as the key issue for the next leg of the story.
