Miss — Diluted EPS $0.26 vs ~$0.34 consensus
Kinetik earnings show record processed volumes, stronger cash flow and 2026 EBITDA tracking to the guidance high end, despite an EPS miss.
Kinetik is expanding an integrated Permian-to-Gulf Coast midstream system, with the current strategy centered on rising Delaware Basin volumes, new processing capacity and better residue-gas takeaway. Its second-quarter update had already raised 2026 EBITDA guidance and put major projects such as Kings Landing II and the ECCC expansion in motion.
The operating story is advancing: third-quarter processed gas volumes reached 1.94 Bcf/d, Midstream Logistics EBITDA rose 34% year over year to $203.6 million, and management said volumes were tracking toward approximately 2.2 Bcf/d in the fourth quarter. That is the clearest evidence that the capacity build-out is translating into current earnings rather than remaining a distant project.
The quarter was mixed against published earnings expectations: revenue of $569.4 million exceeded the roughly $543.8 million consensus, but diluted EPS of $0.26 was below the approximately $0.34 consensus. The EPS shortfall matters, but it is less representative of the operating trajectory here than the volume, EBITDA and cash-flow measures, especially with interest expense and a much larger share count than a year ago.

Guidance is effectively better, though not formally raised: Kinetik now expects 2026 adjusted EBITDA at the high end of its existing $1.04 billion to $1.10 billion range, while capital spending is expected to come in about 5% below the prior $560 million outlook. That combination improves near-term execution and cash conversion without changing the headline EBITDA range.
The longer-term expansion pipeline gained substance: Kings Landing II capacity was increased more than 25% to 380 MMcf/d without changing its roughly $260 million cost, the ECCC expansion reached final investment decision, and new customer commitments cover more than 30,000 gross acres with first flow expected in the second and third quarters of 2027. 〔0〕 〔1〕 These are partly known projects, so the surprise is execution and incremental volume visibility rather than a wholesale change in strategy.
The main offset is mix and leverage: Pipeline Transportation EBITDA fell 18% year over year after the EPIC Crude divestiture and weaker throughput, while net debt rose to $3.943 billion and leverage stood at 3.70x. That does not derail the growth plan, but it means the stronger operating performance is still being delivered alongside a substantial debt load and continued capital spending.
Bottom line: This is a mildly favorable operating update, not a clean earnings beat: EPS missed, but volume growth, cash generation, lower expected capex and high-end EBITDA guidance strengthen Kinetik’s expansion story. The event matters because execution is beginning to validate the company’s capacity-build strategy now, not just in 2027–2028.
