Beat — Diluted EPS $1.09 vs ~$0.19 consensus
ATN International earnings show a huge EPS jump and stronger international performance, but revenue barely grows and EBITDA remains flat.
ATN is rebuilding around rural and remote broadband, carrier services, and long-lived fiber infrastructure after selling a large southwestern US tower portfolio. Its standing challenge is replacing the tower business’s lost revenue while improving operating efficiency; the company’s 2025 strategy emphasized network expansion and free-cash-flow improvement in underserved markets.
The headline earnings beat is real, but mostly an EPS story. Diluted EPS rose to $1.09 from $0.18, far above the published ~$0.19 consensus, helped by higher operating income, lower interest expense, and a larger tax benefit rather than a comparable surge in underlying revenue. The market’s published Q3 revenue expectation was about $184.9 million, versus reported revenue of roughly $183.2 million, so the top line was slightly below plan.
| Q3 2026 | Q3 2025 | Consensus | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Revenue (Financial Highlights) | $183.2M | $183.2M | $184.9M |
| Diluted EPS (Financial Highlights) | $1.09 | $0.18 | $0.19 |
| Adjusted EBITDA (Table 5) | $50.0M | $49.9M | |
| International revenue (Segment results — International Telecom) | $96.9M | $95.1M | |
| US revenue (Segment results — US Telecom) | $86.3M | $88.0M | |
| Net leverage ratio (Table 6) | 0.94x | 2.36x |
International operations are carrying the operating story. International Telecom revenue grew 2%, while segment operating income and Adjusted EBITDA each rose 9%, lifting the margin to 37.4% despite the loss of a government subsidy. That is meaningful evidence that the Caribbean and international assets are offsetting some of the pressure elsewhere.
The US transition is improving underneath a shrinking reported base. US Telecom revenue fell 2% because of the tower sale, lower construction revenue, and subsidy timing, but communication-services revenue would have grown 1% excluding the divested towers. Operating income reached $2.1 million, yet US Adjusted EBITDA still declined year over year, so the replacement businesses are not fully compensating for the assets sold.
The balance sheet gives ATN more room to execute. Cash rose to $351.5 million and total debt fell to $537.5 million, reducing net leverage to 0.94x from 2.36x at year-end. That financial flexibility is largely a consequence of the previously disclosed tower sale, so it is supportive but not a new operational win.
The outlook improved modestly rather than being reset. ATN now expects 2026 Adjusted EBITDA to land at the high end of, or modestly above, its prior $183 million–$193 million range, after reaffirming that range in the second quarter. 〔0〕 This is a small upgrade that confirms execution is holding together after the tower divestiture, not a change in the company’s broader growth trajectory.
Bottom line: ATN delivered a clear EPS beat and a modest outlook improvement, with international operations and leverage trends helping offset a still-flat underlying earnings engine. The event strengthens the transition story, but does not yet prove that the US business can fully replace the tower portfolio’s lost contribution.
