Viemed earnings miss EPS as profitability rebounds and guidance shifts

Miss — Diluted EPS $0.11 vs ~$0.12 consensus

Viemed’s Q3 earnings show a sharp profitability rebound and faster sleep growth, but EPS missed consensus as 2026 guidance was reshaped.

VieMed is transitioning from a ventilation-led home-care provider into a broader, technology-enabled platform spanning sleep, oxygen, airway clearance and women’s health; sleep and adjacent services are growing faster while the company uses its clinical and payer infrastructure to expand nationally.

The quarter was operationally better, but not a clean earnings beat. Revenue reached $80.7 million, up 12.2% year over year and 3.3% sequentially, broadly matching the company’s expected cadence. But the key benchmark was slightly missed: published consensus was about $80.78 million of revenue and $0.12 of EPS, versus reported diluted EPS of $0.11 and revenue of $80.673 million.

Q3 2026Q3 2025Consensus
Revenue (Financial and Operational Highlights)$80.7M (+12.2%)$71.9M~$80.8M
Diluted EPS (Income Statement)$0.11$0.09~$0.12
Adjusted EBITDA (Adjusted EBITDA reconciliation)$17.1M (+5.8%)$16.1M
PAP therapy patients (Financial and Operational Highlights)43,861 (+37.5%)31,891
Sleep resupply patients (Financial and Operational Highlights)40,918 (+22.1%)33,518

The more important improvement was profitability, not top-line acceleration. Adjusted EBITDA rose only 5.8% year over year, but jumped 24.4% sequentially to $17.1 million, lifting the margin to 21.1% from 17.6%. Net income attributable to VieMed rose 67.8% sequentially to $4.6 million, indicating that earlier investments and cost actions are beginning to translate into operating leverage rather than merely adding revenue. 〔0〕

The diversification story is gaining credibility through sleep, while ventilation remains steady. Ventilator rental revenue grew 7.4% to $37.5 million and the ventilator census was 12,552, but the faster growth came from PAP therapy patients, up 37.5%, and sleep resupply patients, up 22.1%. That mix shift supports the company’s stated goal of becoming less capital-intensive, although it also means headline growth is increasingly dependent on newer businesses and execution outside the original ventilation franchise. 〔1〕

Guidance is better on revenue and capital intensity, but less expansive on EBITDA. The revenue range moved to $316 million–$320 million from a prior low end of $314 million, and net-capex guidance fell to 8.0%–9.0% of revenue from 8.5%–10.0%. However, the Adjusted EBITDA range narrowed to $64 million–$66 million from $64 million–$68 million, cutting the upside ceiling even as Q3 profitability improved. That makes the outlook a refinement rather than a broad upgrade: the company is more confident in revenue and lower investment needs, but not in the full extent of margin expansion.

Cash generation and balance-sheet flexibility remain supportive. VieMed produced $4.0 million of quarterly free cash flow and $26.1 million over the trailing twelve months, repaid $2.1 million of term debt, and retained about $46 million of available credit capacity. That gives the company room to continue funding organic expansion, buybacks or acquisitions, but those are supporting facts rather than a new strategic change in this filing.

Bottom line: This was a mixed quarter: the reported EPS and revenue were just below expectations, but profitability rebounded sharply and the business mix continued improving. The filing strengthens confidence in VieMed’s operating recovery, without yet proving that the higher-margin expansion will exceed the company’s existing plan.
