Beat — Revenue $64.5M vs. $60–65M guide and published consensus around $62M
Beyond Meat earnings reached the top of its Q3 revenue guide and margins improved, but U.S. demand and foodservice remained under pressure.
Beyond Meat is in a forced turnaround: it is shrinking costs and its operating footprint while trying to stabilize a weakening U.S. plant-based meat business and build growth around international retail and adjacent plant-protein categories. Its prior quarter already showed that international retail was the bright spot while U.S. channels and global foodservice remained under pressure, alongside a repositioning toward broader plant-protein products.
The quarter beat the immediate revenue bar, but only narrowly. Revenue of $64.5 million landed at the top of management’s $60–65 million range and above published estimates clustered around roughly $61–62 million. That is a genuine execution positive, but it is not a demand recovery: total volume fell 10.9%, and the company got to the revenue number partly through higher revenue per pound.
The underlying sales mix still points to a divided business. International retail revenue grew 13.3% on a 17.4% volume increase, extending the one clear growth pocket. But U.S. retail revenue fell 13.2% on a 20.8% volume decline, U.S. foodservice fell 9.7%, and international foodservice fell 19.4% as QSR demand weakened. The filing therefore advances the cost-and-margin part of the turnaround, not the central problem of restoring broad consumer demand.
Margins improved materially, but the GAAP business remains deeply loss-making. Gross margin rose to 19.3% from 7.4%, helped by a 10.1% reduction in cost of goods sold per pound, while Adjusted EBITDA loss narrowed to $24.6 million from $33.5 million. The improvement is meaningful for a company trying to resize around lower demand, but it was not enough to offset a $57.1 million impairment, $20.8 million of accelerated rent expense and other special items; operating loss was still $93.0 million.
Cash preservation is improving, but the balance sheet remains the constraint. Nine-month operating cash use fell to $37.3 million from $101.2 million, yet the company ended the quarter with $169.3 million of cash against $313.9 million of debt, including $14.5 million of 2027 Notes due March 15, 2027. The filing gives no new numerical fourth-quarter or full-year outlook, reflecting management’s stated elevated uncertainty rather than renewed confidence in forecasting.
| Q3 2026 | Q3 2025 | Guide / consensus | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Total revenue (Financial Highlights) | $64.5M (-8.1%) | $70.2M | $60–65M / ~$62M |
| Gross margin (Gross profit discussion) | 19.3% (+11.9 pts) | 7.4% | |
| Adjusted EBITDA (Non-GAAP reconciliation) | $(24.6)M | $(33.5)M | |
| U.S. net revenue (Segment results) | $34.3M (-12.3%) | $39.1M | |
| Cash and equivalents (Balance sheet) | $169.3M | ||
| Debt carrying value (Liquidity discussion) | $313.9M |
Bottom line: This is a modestly better quarter for execution—revenue reached the guide’s ceiling and cost cuts lifted margins—but the core U.S. demand problem remains unresolved. The result strengthens the turnaround’s efficiency case without yet changing the broader business story. inn
