In line — Diluted EPS $2.68 vs ~$2.71 consensus; revenue $464.8M vs ~$458.9M
Royal Gold’s third-quarter earnings were broadly in line, with revenue ahead of estimates, other-metals guidance raised, and acquisition debt fully repaid.
Royal Gold is in the first full year of absorbing the Sandstorm/Horizon and Kansanshi assets, converting that enlarged royalty-and-stream portfolio into cash flow while rapidly deleveraging. The earlier plan was to repay the acquisition debt over roughly two years; the company has now effectively completed that job in under one year.
The quarter was broadly in line, not a clean earnings beat. Revenue of $464.8 million exceeded the published consensus of roughly $458.9 million, but diluted EPS of $2.68 was just below the roughly $2.71 consensus. That makes the operating result solid rather than surprising: higher metal prices and newly acquired assets drove the top line, while heavier depletion, taxes, and a fair-value loss on equity securities absorbed some of the benefit. The company reported $227.4 million of net income attributable to Royal Gold stockholders, or $2.68 per diluted share.
| Figure | Q3 2026 | Q3 2025 | Consensus / prior guidance |
|---|---|---|---|
| Revenue (Financial Highlights) | $464.8M (+84%) | $252.1M | ~$458.9M |
| Diluted EPS (Income Statement) | $2.68 | $1.92 | ~$2.71 |
| Operating cash flow (Cash Flow statement) | $344.4M (+98%) | $174.0M | |
| Other-metals sales guidance (Guidance table) | $53–56M | $34–38M original |
The balance-sheet outcome is the filing’s strongest signal. Royal Gold reduced debt from $1.225 billion immediately after the 2025 transaction to zero outstanding on its revolver by October 19, while still paying dividends, repurchasing $79 million of stock year to date, and funding its portfolio commitments. That materially improves financial flexibility and removes the central integration-era constraint. The release states that the company “fully repaid that balance” while continuing those capital actions. 〔0〕
Underlying cash generation is doing the work, though the headline growth is price-assisted. Quarterly revenue rose 84% and operating cash flow nearly doubled, helped by average gold, silver, and copper prices up 23%, 59%, and 44%, respectively, plus $68.1 million of revenue from Sandstorm/Horizon assets and $30.8 million from Kansanshi. That validates the acquired portfolio’s contribution, but it does not represent purely volume-driven growth; commodity prices are a meaningful part of the uplift.
Guidance moved incrementally higher rather than being reset broadly. Gold, DD&A, and the effective tax rate stayed within their original ranges, while other-metals guidance rose to $53–56 million from $34–38 million; management also expects silver and copper to finish at or above the top ends of their existing ranges. The company’s core outlook is therefore intact, with the improvement concentrated in a smaller category rather than a wholesale upgrade. 〔1〕
The portfolio still has operating offsets, but they are not overturning the story. Pueblo Viejo, Peñasquito, Andacollo, Kansanshi, and some smaller assets carry production or guidance pressure, while Great Bear’s royalty buyback reduces Royal Gold’s interest to 1.50% in exchange for approximately $43 million. Those issues matter for future mix and growth, but the quarter’s cash generation and debt elimination outweigh them in the current business read.
Bottom line: This was an in-line earnings quarter with better revenue, stronger guidance at the margin, and a much more important balance-sheet milestone. Royal Gold’s post-acquisition story is advancing because the enlarged portfolio is already funding growth, shareholder returns, and near-total deleveraging.
