Ionic Digital Inc. (IOND) · Nov 4, 2026 · Earnings
In line — Revenue $48.99M vs ~$48.9M published estimate; FY outlook reaffirmed
Ionic Digital’s third-quarter earnings show digital infrastructure leasing replacing bitcoin mining, while deferred rent and negative operating cash flow expose the ramp’s cash gap.
Ionic Digital is midway through a planned transition from bitcoin mining into leasing powered infrastructure for HPC and AI customers. Its Nscale Ward County lease is the anchor, while Midland capacity is being repositioned for data-center use; earlier filings described the strategy as monetizing powered assets through predictable lease income rather than relying primarily on bitcoin mining.
The operating transition is advancing as planned. Q3 revenue was essentially in line with the available published estimate, and the business mix has decisively shifted toward leasing: digital infrastructure leasing generated $43.884 million, versus $5.082 million from cryptocurrency mining (Statements of Operations). The company also reaffirmed its full-year 2026 revenue, adjusted EBITDA, and capital-expenditure ranges rather than raising them.
| Figure | Q3 2026 | Q3 2025 | Consensus / prior guidance |

| Adjusted EBITDA (Non-GAAP reconciliation) | $34.988M | $0.154M | — |

The headline leasing revenue is not yet translating into comparable cash receipts. Management says the quarter included $44 million of digital-infrastructure leasing revenue but only $7 million on a cash basis, while the balance sheet shows an $85.176 million deferred-rent receivable and operating cash flow was negative $36.844 million for the first nine months (Cash Flow statement; Balance Sheets). That is the key limitation beneath the strong accounting growth: the lease economics are being recognized, but cash collection and development spending remain the harder proof point.
The balance sheet gives Ionic room to fund the buildout, but does not remove execution risk. Cash and equivalents were $381.422 million, bitcoin holdings were valued at $246.893 million, and the company reported no outstanding borrowings at quarter-end (Balance Sheets; press-release highlights). It also disclosed selling roughly 25% of its bitcoin after quarter-end for approximately $62 million, explicitly to fund the expected development ramp.
Reported net income is not a clean measure of operating progress. The $17.438 million quarterly profit included a $73.150 million non-cash cryptocurrency fair-value gain, partly offset by a $65.901 million non-cash warrant-liability charge (Statements of Operations; Adjusted EBITDA reconciliation). The more useful signal is that leasing now supplies almost all revenue and adjusted gross profit has sharply improved, while cash conversion and site development remain unfinished parts of the story.
Bottom line: The filing confirms that Ionic Digital’s bitcoin-to-AI-infrastructure pivot is working operationally and remains on guidance, but it is not yet producing equivalent cash economics. This is meaningful progress, not a fresh acceleration of the story; the next proof point is whether rent converts to cash as Ward County and Midland development advances.
