Tigo Energy earnings miss as solar recovery and partner launch slip

Miss — Revenue $24.0M vs ~$25.33M consensus; adjusted EBITDA $1.5M vs $0.5M guide high end

Tigo Energy’s third-quarter earnings show profitable cost control, but revenue missed consensus as Europe, U.S. solar and GO ESS weakened.

Tigo is trying to bridge a solar-market recovery with a still-dominant MLPE business while launching GO ESS and an optimized-inverter partnership; the near-term story depends on Europe stabilizing and new U.S. products finally scaling. The quarter confirms that the recovery is taking longer than hoped, even as management protects margins and costs.

Revenue was a miss against the market’s bar, despite landing inside company guidance. Third-quarter revenue was $24.0 million, down 21.5% year over year, versus published consensus of approximately $25.33 million. The company had already guided to $24–26 million, so the result was not a surprise internally, but it underdelivered against the broader expectation.

The weakness is concentrated in the areas meant to supply the next leg of growth. GO ESS revenue fell 58.6% year over year to $1.3 million, while U.S. revenue dropped 51.4% after the residential tax credit expired. The optimized-inverter partner contributed only about $0.8 million, and its delayed launch may push future orders further out.

Operational execution was better than the revenue line suggests, but it is defensive execution rather than evidence of renewed demand. Gross margin expanded to 46.2% from 42.7%, operating expenses fell 10.0%, and adjusted EBITDA exceeded the high end of the company’s guidance. Inventory declined to $18.1 million from $31.3 million at year-end, showing meaningful cleanup, but operating cash flow was still negative $8.3 million for the first nine months. 〔0〕

The balance sheet is better funded, but partly through external capital rather than operating cash generation. Cash rose to $16.8 million, helped by $14.25 million of common-stock issuance and net revolver borrowings, while current liabilities fell sharply as accounts payable were paid down. That improves near-term liquidity, but it also means the company is still relying on financing while waiting for volumes to recover.

Bottom line: Tigo delivered a better-than-guided profit profile, but the more important demand signal was weaker than consensus and the expected growth engines remain delayed. This is a modest setback to the recovery story, not a full reversal, because margins, inventory and costs are moving in the right direction.
