Beat — Adjusted EPS $0.40 vs ~$0.36 consensus
Envista earnings modestly beat published expectations, while the dental-products company raised its 2026 adjusted EPS outlook for a second consecutive quarter.
Envista is in the middle of a dental-business recovery built around its Envista Business System: restoring growth, expanding margins, and improving execution across Specialty Products & Technologies and Equipment & Consumables. Its 2025 annual report described core growth as the strongest in its public-company history outside the post-COVID recovery, so this filing is mainly a test of whether that improvement is continuing rather than a new strategic pivot.
The quarter was a modest beat, not a breakout. Adjusted diluted EPS was $0.40 versus roughly $0.36 published consensus, while sales of $691.5 million were slightly above the roughly $689 million consensus. Revenue grew 3.2% year over year, but underlying core growth was 2.7%, below the full-year target range and slower than the 5.6% core growth delivered in the first nine months. Adjusted operating margin still improved to 13.7% from 12.8%, with Equipment & Consumables doing most of the margin work; Specialty Products & Technologies’ adjusted margin slipped to 15.0% from 15.5%. 〔0〕
| Q3 2026 | Q3 2025 | Consensus | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sales (Income Statement) | $691.5M (+3.2%) | $669.9M | ~$688.7M |
| Adjusted diluted EPS (Adjusted EPS reconciliation) | $0.40 (+25.0%) | $0.32 | ~$0.36 |
| Adjusted EBITDA (Adjusted EBITDA) | $105.8M (+9.0%) | $97.1M | |
| Adjusted operating margin (Adjusted Operating Profit) | 13.7% (+0.9 pts) | 12.8% | |
| Free cash flow (Free Cash Flow) | $63.5M (-6.5%) | $67.9M |
The more important signal is the renewed earnings-guide increase. Envista lifted 2026 adjusted EPS guidance to $1.54–$1.58 from $1.50–$1.55, raising the midpoint by about $0.035. It also raised the low end of adjusted EBITDA growth to 12.5% from 11%, while narrowing the core-sales range to 3.75%–4.25% from 3.5%–4.5%. 〔1〕 This strengthens the turnaround story, but only modestly: the sales-growth midpoint is unchanged, and the company is relying more on margin and earnings conversion than on a major acceleration in demand.
The headline GAAP profit is mostly noise for the operating story. GAAP diluted EPS was $3.11 because Envista recognized a $428.1 million noncash foreign-currency translation gain tied to legal-entity simplification; management explicitly excluded it from adjusted EPS and EBITDA. 〔2〕 The underlying business therefore improved, but not by anything close to the GAAP figures suggest.
Cash generation was adequate but less clean in the quarter. Nine-month free cash flow rose to $152.9 million from $139.2 million, although third-quarter free cash flow fell year over year and cash declined to $1.16 billion after acquisitions and share repurchases. The balance sheet remains capable of funding the current program, but the quarter does not show a dramatic improvement in cash conversion.
Bottom line: Envista is executing ahead of a fairly modest quarterly bar and has earned another small EPS-guidance increase. That advances the recovery story, but the signal is incremental: earnings and margins are improving faster than underlying sales growth, not rewriting the company’s outlook.
