Beat — Non-GAAP EPS $4.69 vs ~$4.42 consensus; FY EPS guide raised to $17.94-$17.99
Motorola Solutions earnings beat consensus, backlog hit a record, and the company raised full-year 2026 revenue and EPS guidance again.
Motorola Solutions is in the middle of expanding its safety-and-security platform across mission-critical communications, software, video, command centers and counter-drone technology; the prior quarter already showed record demand, a record backlog and a planned D-Fend acquisition. The quarter clearly cleared the market’s bar. Published expectations were roughly $3.25 billion of revenue and $4.42 of adjusted EPS; Motorola delivered $3.376 billion and $4.69, while revenue rose 12% year over year across both segments.
| Figure | Q3 2026 | Q3 2025 | Consensus / prior guide |

| Non-GAAP EPS (Key Financial Results) | $4.69 (+16%) | $4.06 | ~$4.42 |
| GAAP EPS (Income Statement) | $3.06 (-8%) | $3.33 | |
| Non-GAAP operating margin (Key Financial Results) | 32.5% (+200 bps) | 30.5% | |
| Free cash flow (Cash Flow Highlights) | $589 | $733 | |
| FY26 revenue guide (Business Outlook) | $13.050B | $12.975B prior | |
| FY26 non-GAAP EPS guide (Business Outlook) | $17.94-$17.99 | $17.62-$17.72 prior |
Underlying operating performance improved more than GAAP earnings suggest. Non-GAAP operating earnings rose 19% and margin expanded two percentage points, with both Products and Systems Integration and Software and Services contributing double-digit sales growth. The GAAP decline is largely an accounting distortion from an $87 million increase in the contingent Silvus earnout, not a collapse in core profitability. 〔0〕
The raised outlook confirms that demand is extending beyond one strong quarter. Full-year revenue guidance increased by $75 million and the EPS range moved up by roughly $0.27 to $0.32 per share from the prior outlook. Record backlog reached $16.6 billion, up 14%, which gives the business unusually strong forward visibility.
The main offsets are cash conversion and balance-sheet pressure. Free cash flow fell to $589 million from $733 million as higher taxes, interest and working capital—including elevated inventory—absorbed more of the earnings. The D-Fend closing was strategically consistent with the counter-drone expansion, but it cost $1.3 billion net of cash acquired and was primarily debt-funded, adding to long-term debt while memory costs and supply-chain volatility remain issues.
Bottom line: This was more than routine execution: Motorola Solutions beat a high expectation, expanded margins and raised the full-year outlook again. Cash flow and leverage are real offsets, but they do not outweigh the stronger demand and backlog signal in this filing.
