Aeva Technologies, Inc. (AEVA) · Nov 4, 2026 · Earnings
Beat — Revenue $6.67M vs ~$6.58M consensus; non-GAAP EPS -$0.39 vs -$0.43 consensus
Aeva’s Q3 earnings narrowly beat revenue and adjusted-loss expectations, while first optical-connectivity sales and new customer wins advance its AI-data-center and lidar ramp.
Aeva is still a loss-making lidar company trying to convert automotive and industrial design wins into volume, while its newly launched Optical Connectivity business targets AI data-center demand; the prior quarter established a major-customer development program aimed at deployment in the second half of 2027 and production ramp in 2028.
The quarter cleared a low bar, but it did clear it. Revenue was $6.67 million versus roughly $6.58 million consensus, and non-GAAP loss per share was $0.39 versus an expected $0.43 loss. That is a narrow earnings beat, not a step-change in financial performance. (Financial Highlights)
| Q3 2026 | Q3 2025 | Consensus | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Revenue (Financial Highlights) | $6.67M (+86%) | $3.58M | ~$6.58M |
| Non-GAAP loss/share (Reconciliation) | $(0.39) | $(0.46) | $(0.43) |
| GAAP operating loss (Financial Highlights) | $(39.1M) | $(33.2M) | |
| Total available liquidity (Financial Highlights) | $272.5M |
The more important business change is that Optical Connectivity moved from announcement to revenue. Aeva recorded its first sales of ultra-high-power chipsets to its joint-development customer for integration and validation, while expanding the product portfolio and negotiating with a second optical customer. That is early commercial proof for the AI-data-center strategy, but validation shipments are not yet production-scale revenue. 〔0〕
Customer traction broadened beyond the original hyperscaler opportunity. The filing cites a multi-year Micro-Epsilon supply agreement with an initial multi-thousand-sensor order, continued production-intent Atlas shipments to Daimler Truck, and selection by the U.S. Air Force and Navy for airborne-autonomy development. These wins strengthen the argument that Aeva’s platform is finding multiple use cases, although most are still development, validation, or early-order milestones rather than large recurring production revenue. 〔1〕
The cost structure remains the constraint. GAAP operating loss widened to $39.1 million from $33.2 million, while non-GAAP operating loss was essentially flat at $27.7 million versus $27.2 million a year earlier. Aeva also used $87.4 million of operating cash in the first nine months, so the new revenue streams have not yet changed the funding profile; reported liquidity of $272.5 million provides runway but does not solve the need to scale revenue materially. (Statements of Operations; Cash Flows; Financial Highlights)
Bottom line: This is a modestly better-than-expected quarter with a meaningful strategic proof point: Optical Connectivity has begun generating revenue. The overall story advances, but Aeva remains far from commercial scale and profitability.
