Beat — Adjusted EPS $0.69 vs ~$0.61 consensus; revenue $1.96B vs ~$1.78B
Permian Resources earnings beat Q3 expectations, raised 2026 oil guidance, and expanded its Delaware Basin position through a $1.15 billion acquisition program.
Permian Resources is an acquisitive Delaware Basin pure-play that had already raised 2026 oil and spending targets in its August 5, 2026 update while adding acreage through bolt-on deals. This release extends that strategy, but with better-than-expected quarterly execution and a larger operating footprint.
The quarter beat the published bar on both earnings and revenue. Adjusted diluted EPS was $0.69 versus published consensus near $0.61, while oil and gas sales reached $1.96 billion against consensus near $1.78 billion. The operating result was supported by production growth, higher realized oil prices and sharply higher free cash flow, not just accounting items.
| Figure | Q3 2026 | Q3 2025 | Consensus |
|---|---|---|---|
| Oil and gas sales (Income Statement) | $1,957.7M (+48.1%) | $1,321.8M | ~$1,780M |
| Adjusted diluted EPS (Adjusted net income) | $0.69 (+86.5%) | $0.37 | ~$0.61 |
| Adjusted free cash flow (Cash Flow reconciliation) | $845.6M (+80.4%) | $468.8M | |
| Total production (Operating Highlights) | 457,528 Boe/d (+11.5%) | 410,225 Boe/d | |
| Oil production guidance (2026 FY Guidance) | 202.5 MBbls/d midpoint | 199.0 MBbls/d prior midpoint | |
| Cash capital expenditure guidance (2026 FY Guidance) | $1,975–$2,075M | $1,900–$2,000M prior |
Guidance moved higher because the operating base is performing better. The company lifted its 2026 oil target to a 202.5 MBbls/d midpoint, 13.5 MBbls/d above its original February plan, and expects fourth-quarter oil production above 210 MBbls/d. Costs remain controlled, with third-quarter controllable cash costs at a company-record $7.05 per Boe.
The main strategic addition is a sizable but operationally relevant Delaware acquisition. Permian Resources closed Ridge Runner for approximately $1.025 billion and completed other bolt-ons, bringing the broader transaction package to about $1.15 billion for 24,000 net acres, 9,000 royalty acres and 13,000 Boe/d of production. Because the assets sit directly beside its existing New Mexico position, this is more than simple volume buying: it expands contiguous inventory and working interest in the core basin.
The trade-off is that growth is consuming more capital and adding contingent payment exposure. Capital spending guidance rose to $1.975–$2.075 billion, partly from higher working interest and the Ridge Runner deal, which included up to $125 million of oil-price-linked earnouts. The balance sheet still looks manageable at 0.5x net debt-to-LQA EBITDAX, and the company says year-end leverage should remain below 0.5x, but the release reinforces a growth-through-acquisition model rather than a purely harvest-and-return model.
Bottom line: This is a meaningful positive quarter: Permian Resources beat expectations, raised production guidance and added strategically adjacent inventory while preserving low leverage. The news advances an already-known acquisition-and-growth story rather than completely rewriting it.
