Arcutis earnings beat revenue but miss EPS as spending surges

Miss — Diluted EPS $0.06 vs ~$0.17 consensus; revenue $143.9M vs ~$142.6M

Arcutis earnings show ZORYVE demand still accelerating, but an EPS miss and sharply higher marketing costs temper the quarter.

Arcutis is a commercial-stage dermatology company scaling ZORYVE into a broader non-steroidal treatment platform while funding new indications and ARQ-234 development. After Q2, management had already raised 2026 net product sales guidance to $525–$540 million, setting a high execution bar for the quarter.

Commercial execution beat the sales bar. ZORYVE product revenue reached $143.9 million, up 45% year over year and 11% sequentially, modestly ahead of the roughly $142.6 million published consensus. Foam remained the largest contributor at $75.1 million, while every formulation grew, indicating that the franchise—not just one product—is carrying the expansion.

Q3 2026Q3 2025Consensus
Product revenue (Financial results)$143.9M (+45%)$99.2M$142.6M
Diluted EPS (Income statement)$0.06$0.06$0.17
SG&A expense (Financial results)$99.6M (+60%)$62.4M
Cash, equivalents and marketable securities (Financial results)$259.8M$221.3M

The earnings miss comes from the cost of scaling, not weak demand. Diluted EPS of $0.06 fell far short of the roughly $0.17 consensus despite the revenue beat. SG&A rose 60% year over year to $99.6 million as Arcutis expanded its sales force, added primary-care and pediatric teams, and funded the Simone Biles awareness campaign. That investment is consistent with the company’s commercial buildout, but it absorbed much of the incremental gross profit.

The broader story advanced, but this quarter did not improve profitability as quickly as expected. Arcutis generated $18.9 million of operating cash flow and ended the quarter with $259.8 million of cash, restricted cash and marketable securities, up from $221.3 million at year-end. Meanwhile, the company initiated a pivotal Phase 3 trial for moderate-to-severe atopic dermatitis and retained several 2026–2027 pipeline milestones, including the February 23, 2027 FDA action date for infant atopic dermatitis. These are constructive additions, but they were largely anticipated from the prior update rather than fresh evidence of clinical success.

Bottom line: ZORYVE demand is running slightly ahead of expectations and the franchise is broadening, but the quarter’s large EPS miss shows that commercial investment is rising faster than near-term earnings. The business trajectory remains intact, yet this filing is modestly disappointing versus the bar investors had set.
